Hm, Tennesee has six spoecies of Gymnopilus, a wood loving species commoniun the fall and similar to Arnellaria mellea (the honey mushroom).

Psilocybe caerulipes grows along the coastal regions of Tennesee in woody debris along streams and riverbanks in the early fall months.

Would that also be true for N.Georgia? I'm on the hunt for Psilocybe Cubensis and Weilii near Atlanta, but maybe now I can look for wood-loving species as well.

Sure enough, Paul Stamets' identification guide has several Gymnopilus species listed as present in TN.
