Techie question, need a quick answer.
    #7475721 - 10/01/07 10:14 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

So I'm fixing an old boss's computer and I got sick of disconnecting/reconnecting our PC's so I got a KVM switch.  I have it hooked up right, because I can switch between both PC's but the second PC (his old POS) makes my monitor say "Out of Range:  27.8kHz / 61Hz".

How do I fix this?  The only thing I could think of is maybe it's the video card on MY PC, I had to attach the DVI/VGA adapter to use it.  How can I get my monitor to work with this guy's damn computer? :crankey:

Poke smot's got it, but I believe you want a lower rate.  Try putting it as low as it will go.  I doubt your boss is playing too much counter-strike

Tech support told me to connect a CRT monitor directly to his old PC first, change the refresh rate to 60hz (which mine's at) and to change his resolution to 1280x1024...

Think it'll work?

Ya it should work. To be safe though start at 640X480 resolution, should be as low as it goes. When you make everything as low as possible you rule out the possibility for fucking up and having to swap out monitors back and forth. Once you get it up and working you can mess with the settings to get the best possible resolution and refresh rate.

Making a reference to the movie Back to the Future is racist? Granted, the spelling should be gigawatts, but in the movie, the professor mispronounces the word as "jiggawatts".

Right click on the desktop of the computer that causes the problem and select properties. Click the settings tab and then reduce the resolution down to something that works (800x600 probably works). Hit the advanced button, click the monitor tab, and set the refresh rate to the lowest supported (probably 60Hz). Apply, and add the KVM back into the system.

They said it was a think for def people to use (TTY) and the other port was for my MP3's.

I just bought one of these Kensington Blue Tooth adapters instead.

Can anyone recommend the best software to upload things to my phone?  I absolutely refuse to pay $2 for a 2"x1" wallpaper... :nonono:
