It's been raining crazy on the Washington Coast.. today there was a sunny break which let me snap some pics. Enjoy!





This little beast was growing right out of this dead log!

The first ones are Lycoperdon.

Second are Coprinellus.

That Amanita muscaria growing out of dead wood like that is extremely unusual.

I have to guess that the mycelium is attached to the roots of a living pine tree nearby, and the mycelium colonized the dead log sitting atop the soil, and fruited right through it, making the mushroom appear lignicolous, when in fact it is mycorrhizal.  :shocked:

well that is weird , as you say cure cat, what tree is that i see young shot coming in the side, is not look like a amanita host tree
i see some needles in the ground but don“t look like pine maybe picea, or douglas possible, but if you just look the log look crazy
nice pictures since cure cat id almost all and the other are difficult to do so with that little information , have a nice day
