Beginning Shroomin In Montana

Hello to everyone who may wander upon this post. If any of this post has already been covered, I'm sorry and just call me a dumbass.
So I live north-western Montana, and I have just recently been introduced into the shrooming world. I have decided that I would like to start hunting because it will give me a chance to get in touch with nature (I need a little nudging), I will be increasing the knowledge banks, it will improve my physique, it will save me money, and it will produce some good times (tripping and otherwise). So here come the questions(again I'm sorry if I was just too eager to write this before I read the noob posts in their entirety):
About how much should you educate yourself on the subject before even venturing into the unknown?
What is the supply generated by the average hunter?
What is the average hunting to production ratio? (6 hours: 1 gram)
Any thoughts, concerns, or comments?

The sooner you get into the field, the faster you'll learn! Just don't eat anything until you get your finds identified, and more than one person is certain of the ID. Even then, it is good to use your own discretion. There are times when i first began, that i could have become very ill if i had only listened to the advice of others, and not listened to my own voice which said "wait until you have learned more, before experimenting..."

Not sure I understand the question.

It ALL depends on the individual grower or hunter, and how much time, money, or supplies they invest, as well as their geography.

So do you think I should grab some books (any personal suggestions) and get out there right away?
Also, about how much in-field experience is required (in your opinion) before making the decision to consume? Should I do everything in my power to identify, and then ask some of the forum posters for additional help?
What I meant by the above post was basically: Depending on your location, about much supply can you obtain over the period of, lets say, a month. I mean, can you obtain enough for monthly or weekly trips?
Thanks alot...your input has been greatly appreciated

Hey there, I'm from Montana too. The season this year is winding down quickly. There are still some nice edibles (non-hallucinogenic) out there, but they are beginning to dwindle. Also, If you were hoping to find hallucinogenic mushrooms easily, Montana is not a great place for that. They're pretty rare up here. So, you're not going to find any this late in the season, and will have to look really hard next spring if you want to find anything. The only active in Montana that can be found in any quantity is panaelous subbalteatus, which fruits in may and june. However, if you are interested in edibles too, Mushrooms Demystified is a good book. Also, just cover as much ground as you can...Good luck!

Ahh...I see. Well, I suppose I will have to get my rain gear on and get my arse out there...
Also, if I did manage to find some panaeolus subbalteatus...would it be simple to just pollinate some forrests//patures close by?
~Thanks
