I was just cleaning up some jars and thought I would as if rust affects growth of mycelium. Thanks for the input.

I hate to be wasteful and have been using the same rusty jar lids for years. Never had a problem.

eh, rust is harmless if you worried about it
goto your grocery store and get a bottle of Soda Water fill a rubbermaid with it and put your lids in it
it'll break the rust loose

Yes rust is harmless I use the same old rusty ones over and over. Although, I noticed that they sell the rings separately at Wal-Mart. I think when I get tired of looking at them, I'll buy replacements. They are NOT EXPENSIVE!

When the rings get too rusty, it's hard to get them tight enough, and even harder to get them loose later. RR

eh well roger, i think we're talking about a little it of rust on the outside of the ring and on the shiny side of the lid
it's from setting the cakes inside the terrarium ontop of their respective lids rust here will probably not affect the functionality of the lid
if your ring has rust on the inside i would say scrap it

I get rust on my micropore tape it seems for some reason.
When I pressure cook jars with micropore tape on the holes and leave them in the cooker overnight the tape usually gets some orange on it. I originally thought it was contamination in the filter but after a year of using the tape I learned it was probably just rust
