**6 Days and No Mycellium (PLEASE HELP)**

I inoculated my mycobags 6 days ago. Zero out out of ten bags show any growth. I am not able to give them the ideal temperature. They are currently at around 70 degrees, maybe a little less. When I inoculated them I also went fairly deep into the substrate, only to read later that you should inoculate on the sides of the bags.
Would injecting too deep into the substarate yeild no signs of growth? Will a slight increase in temperature help the bags? The bags are actually cool to the touch, prob a few degrees less than 70 degrees. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get these bags heated up without using any electricity (they have to be super stealth.)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I don't want this to be a failed project. In some ways I am hoping that by just posting this my mycellium will magically start to grow (pleeeeease )
Thanks

That's the problem. Using any type of electricity or keeping them out in the open is impossible. I didn't realize just how cold my house gets now, because I read room temp. is OK to incubate. I have them in a storage closet and it's probably a little below 70 degrees in there. Any ideas?

Did you use a liquid culture? or did you inoculate with a multispore syringe?
Multispore inoculations will take a lot longer than LC inoculations

I used a spore syringe. I used up to 3-5ccs per bag.

At those temps and since the spores are in the substrate I'd imagine it's gonna take some time for them to show. Keep them for around 15 to 20 days then if nothing shows then sacrifice one and take a look and see if anything is growing and what stage it's at.

Yes. All supplies were from Sporeworks.
Could innoculating too deep into the substrate be a problem? I spread the solution out, roughly 1cc to the left, 1cc in the center, and 1cc to the right.

I had to abort my bag cos of going on holiday and a few other factors but while doing it i spoke to lots who were also doing them and the opinion for the most was they do take time i spoke to some one who bag didn do nothing for two months and mine was around that wen i gave up on it but your bags will move faster if you can get more heat around them six days is no time to tell in my little experience and others i spoke to at the time, work on the temp a little and give them time shaking the bag up may help distribut the contents more evenly aswell Good luck GD

first of all, innoculating from spore syringes will take 4-5 days for spores to germinate and 7-10 before you see some growth. (under ideal conditions 82F) This is your problem.
second, the amount of spore solution you inoculated with could have detrimental effects by increasing the water content of the bag. P cubes wont colonize if the substrate is too wet. Next time stick to 1cc per bag.
third, innoculating into the substrate shouldnt hurt anything. This is not the problem with your bags not colonizing. It is better to hit the sides with the solution in order to get spores dispersed throughout the substrate more evenly.
My suggestions are to somehow find a way to get the bags to optimal temperature, use 1cc of solution next time, DONT peek at the bags all the time. Leave them alone for many days and let them do their thing, but only under ideal conditions.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really don't want this attempt to be a failure. It's such poor timing. The temperature was at a steady 78 degrees in my house. Two days after I inoculate it drops this low. It pisses me off.
BTW....the bags are the smaller ones. (Grain)
Thanks again and wish me luck!

why can you not create some type of incubator using electricity? it is very easy to hide a plug. There is unlimited options available.
heat bomb in a small enclosed container, heating blanket, heating pad, etc... These are all covert incubators IMO.

The risk of having the setup found is not worth it to me. It must be super stealth (no wires, etc.) I may be able to move it to a more consistent temperature (roughly low to mid 70s.)
Thanks
