New PF Tek method ?

A newer book I read, suggested that I leave the cakes in their jar and wrap the jar with aluminum foil to reduce fruiting to the top of the jar. Any feed back on this method would be great.

bad move, a lot of the moisture in the cake is at the base, and this is where a lot of pins form on an exposed cake. forcing the cake to fruit from one small area has no benefits at all as far as I can see.

If you can get your hands on some horse poo and a meat thermometer, I can explain to you how you can turn your cakes into LOADS of mushrooms.

Just birth your cakes into a Perlite Terrarium. Your yields will be much higher because your mushrooms will not just be growing out of the tops of the jars, but out of all sides exposed.
Trust me, it's worth a little extra money/work.

Actually, wrapping a jar with foil encourages side and bottom invitro pinning because the foil reflects light from the top of the jar to the bottom. I've deliberately triggered massive invitro pinsets by wrapping jars in foil, such as the one below. There's lots of disinformation out there. Be careful. RR

RR where is the value in that?
mushrooms will regrow there, with a similar pinset when you birth it?
isn't that a waste of mushy needs?
just curious

What is the point of that though?

Sometimes I wonder to what extent newbies are weirded out by this kind of shoptalk.

Use the thermometer to put the poo back in the horse. This is called Equine Anal Pasteurization.
Jokes aside. In-vitro growing of fruit bodies is a no-muss/no-fuss sorta thing. Your only job after inoculation is to loosen the lid when ready. RRs a busy guy with a lot of projects to tend too.
And I see that's your Redboy sub, RR. I was gonna play with that one next.
