I just inoculated 36 jars
    #7472274 - 09/30/07 10:28 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Whats the best way to incubate all of them in a relatively small place. I have them in a tub right now with the pillowcases on draped on the outside to keep it dark in there. I was thinking it will be ok if i open the tub a few times a day to release the gasses.

My concern is that having all those 1/2 pint jars in one tub might cause some problems. they are stacked 2 1/4 layers high ontop of each other.

WIll it be a lot better to just stick them in a cupboard?

its going to be fine as long as its dark and they aren't being moved around all the time...after they colonize and start to get warm then maybe u need to be more careful about excessive heat...however u will probably do something with them at that point so i think ur all good, tub or cupboard...things will happen faster if its warmer but its not necessary...

it is ok for light... darkness while in jars is basically a myth.

you think thats a myth?

I don't think I'd want light to trigger early pins.

light alone isn't enough to initiate pins. you still have very little fae. i've never had invitro pins and ive left fully colonized jars sitting for a couple weeks it a well lit area.

never used an incubator for any of my grows. maybe in december i'll think about it. i've seen rr have all his jars filling up a bookcase looking thing with no attempt to block light.

so yeah no reason to worry about darkness. jars will colonize at room temp. maybe a little slower.

Hi there, i found that the best place in my flat is the cupboard that has the water heater in it, has shelfs for hanging cloathes. I stick my jars in there and it hapily keeps the temp between 78-82. I removed part of the insulation on the boiler to help this.

On a side note i reduced the time my boiler was on to save on some electricity too.
