This kid in my dorm jumped out of his third floor window last night--while drunk as hell-- in order to avoid the police who were knocking on his door. Miraculuously he landed squarely; unfazed and uninjured.
Wow. I guess some people will do anything to avoid getting in trouble.

Lol no, just drunk. I guess you could say, at least in this instance, that those two terms are interchangeable.

His door was still shut when he jumped; he hadn't answered it. The cops did speak with him outside later on but for some reason (I'm not keen on the specifics here) he didn't get in trouble.

A dude I grew up with fell from the third story of his apartment his sophomore year in college. Drunk, railing snapped, he broke his neck and died. This shmuck probably doesn't realize how lucky he is to be alive. He probably is just happy he's not in jail.

I watched a guy jump off the top of the stairs at my brothers keg party when i was 13. He started on the highschool football team and broke his leg. I thought it was hilarious.

Parkour is a physical discipline, it's not stunts like little kids of youtube post up and the media stories, a large majority of the members haven't had an injury yet. So now you got people going around (just like someone posted above) saying parkour is about jumping off 7 and 8 storey buildings which is bullshit.
Typically when we train people, you don't jump off anything higher then 2 metres for at least 12 months, by then you can roll on concrete with no shirt and have zero impact (rolls turn verticle force into horizontal). Plus you've had a year of doing squats and pistols (one legged squats) + major amounts of ankle condition... it's different to someone just jumping out of a window.
Most of the members train 7 days a week.
That sounds fun.

A few years ago I witnessed a guy jump out of a second story window land in an ugly way.
There were about twenty people in this bedroom for some reason, and I happen to turn and look at the window. The guy was perched on the windowsill, like a cat... he shot me a weird look, then he jumped.
I rushed to the window and saw that he had landed somehow on a heavy, shingled awning above the front step. He cheered for a second, then the awning gave way.
I watched him land -- on his back -- on the iron railing, basically bending himself backwards. There were people on the step under the awning having a smoke when it fell.
I rushed downstairs, fully expecting to see one or more dead people. Everyone outside was stunned, but the awning hadn't hit anyone somehow. I rushed up to the guy, who had bounced off the railing onto the sidewalk.
"Are you okay man?!!" I yell at him.
He just gets up and dusts himself off. "Yeah I think I'm actually okay."
All he had was a horrible, loaf of bread sized bruise on his back.
