flushes between casings
    #7471371 - 09/30/07 06:29 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

ive harvested both of my casings a few days ago and theyve been dormant since then. my question is are they going to flush again without any rehydrating. i havent added water or anything to them i am just hoping to see some pins start to pop up soon, do i need to do anything to them to help this process?

was that the first flush?
its definitely recommended to rehydrate the casings between flushes, and optionally patch (i dont)

just spray casing until near saturation

you'll get a better flush re hydrating them but some of the best 2nd or 3rd flushes I've ever had were neglect and wait.

Rehydrating is a must. You have two options. Either rehydrate the substrate or rehydrate the casing layer.

Actually, I do both. Just put a weight on you casing and fill up the container with water. Soak for 12 hours and drain as completely as possible. It's that easy.

If you don't want to dunk you casing, you can just bring the moisture content of the casing layer back up. You don't want to attempt to bring your casing layer up to field capacity all at once. Rather, do this in a series of gentle mistings over a couple hours or so.
