Can I case a cake that has flushed once?

Say I had a couple of cakes that I soaked in water for 24 hours after they're first flush.
Is it possible for me to crumble them up like it says in the PF cake casing tek and then case it?
Or is it not possible because it already had a flush?
Thanks for any help

You could case them but it wont increase the yeild. You will get just as much as if you simply fruited the cakes.

But of course if I cased it in the first place the yield would of been higher right?

Not really.
Casing doesn't add any nutrients so if you keep your cakes propery hydrated the yeild will be the same. Casing is used to protect from contaminants and helps to keep big amounts of spawn properly hydrated.

but casing allows for a much larger surface area, allowing for more pins mushrooms don't need alot of nutrients to grow in the first place since their mostly water..
you will more than likely get more yeild from a cased PF cake than you would from a whole one

I'm still kind of a noob to this, and often switch things up with my cakes/casings after flushes just to see what works best. I've fruited then dunked then cased with no problems...I don't see what would be a problem? The next 2lb. grainbag I'm colonizing I plan to crumble half of it then case it in a small pan and take the other half and case/fruit it like its a pf cake. I've found that if you find a strong colonizing substrate and strain combo, the myc will re-establish itself very quickly and easily from almost anything you can do to it.

thanks that's some useful info.
I actually want to try that now that you said that about the 2lb bag. I think that's a good idea.
Thanks again

Crumbled cakes or spawn, is added to a larger amount of growing material, (that contains nutrients), called a bulk substrate. A bulk substrate can be covered up with a thin layer of NON-nutritive medium, which is called a casing.
Hope this helps!
