freshies rule

Yesterday morning as I woke up my brother came right in and told me, "You're shrooming tonight." He gave me a little pile of freshly-picked mushrooms and told me to eat them. I've always been a pussy about eating mushrooms, so even though they were fresh I made a tea and drank that. But he gave me more freshies and insisted I eat them. So I did. It was like eating a freaking fruit. Like it was actually meant to be eaten. Suffice to say I'll never be making tea for freshies again.
Someone here told me a few days ago that dry mushrooms will give me a dry trip, and fresh mushrooms will give me a fresh trip. That's a very good way to describe it. The body high was more like acid than the freaky body-tearing feelings I usually associate with shrooms. Very lighthearted and easy-going, comfortable fare. I listened to Beethoven and forgot I was actually listening to anything as I instead watched the music play out against my eyelids.
After two bad shroom trips in a row, this was a breath of fresh air. There's real power to the idea that shrooms grown for profit have less love in them.

Thank you, I was considering buying some again when they're available instead of waiting for the rains and picking some fresh ones. This reinstates my feelings of waiting until they come to me:)

There might actually be a reason for this. I read in an Erowid article that Psilocin breaks down in heat a lot easier than Psilocybin. So basically, when you dry mushrooms you keep the Psilocybin, but you lose the Psilocyn.
Psilocin is a prodrug, it basically enters your body then turns into Psilocybin once there. Might explain the different feeling or the fact that it comes in waves.

Quite the opposite. It is in fact psilocybin that is broken down to psilocin in the body.

Actually, yeah, I had them mixed up. Regardless, Psilocin is still more prone to being destroyed.
Quote:
The primary active ingredients of Psilocybe mushrooms are psilocybin and psilocin, and to a lesser extent baeocystin and norbaeocystin. The ratio of psilocybin to psilocin varies from species to species. The primary difference between the two compounds is that psilocin is unstable, considered to be more prone to destructive oxidation, and breaks down when the mushroom is dried. Psilocybin is thought to last much longer (a 115-year old mushroom sample was found to contain some).
