Ghosts

A while back, there was an incident at my friend's house that has me a bit baffled. We were round at her house having drinks and whatnot, and some of us kept going into her basement because she has told us that there is a ghost of a girl that she keeps seeing. Anyway, apparently someone sees that it's down there, so a lot of us go to investigate. After much drama, I go down and want to see this for myself. I'm sitting down there with one other person in pitchblack, and I can't see any sign of a ghost. I can see some things that COULD resemble a ghost, but there are no facial features or any clear distinctions and is just a bunch of boxes and other junk playing with my mind. Anyways, another guy comes down stairs and he sees it right there as he looks to his right, pretty much everyone else saw it, but I didn't.
Are there some people that just can't see ghosts or any spirits? I'm open minded towards the possibility, yet I'm not fully convinced until I see one for myself clear as day.
What are your thoughts? Think it's bullshit? Or do you have similar stories?

my diagnosis: mass mentality and/or self-reinforcing delusions

alternate: maybe you didn't see the "ghost" becuase you really wanted to see it. I'm studying the same phenomena when I don't win the lottery even tho I really really want to.

Yeah, that IS a possibility - that you'll only see a "ghost" if you truly believe it, and therefore create it as illusion in your mind over what is really just an arrangement of objects that resembles a person. However, it'd be interesting to see if any people who strongly disagreed about the existance of ghosts have seen any themselves and been surprised.

The mind does have an incredible say in what the eyes percieve. Im sure if a person psyched themselves enough to see a ghost in the pitchblack, they might see something and believe. I don't know. I have never seen anything ghostlike before but firmly believe in spirits and energies from different planes of life and time. It's a very weird thing to think about: an entity, in limbo, living in your basement. ha! peace
