Cultivation Time! Advice Please!
    #7469138 - 09/30/07 05:10 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Hi!

My first ever cakes are starting to produce shrooms. There's only the odd one at the moment so looks like they won't produce loads in one go. I've got some calcium chloride crystals and have setup a airtight container for the drying of them. Just want to get some feedback on how well this works... does it really preserve most of the psylocibin/psilocin? Also, would it help if I put the container in the fridge to make sure that there is minimal heating of the shrooms?

Or should I leave the shrooms on the cake and wait for more to start maturing?

Also, what sort of amount should I use for a trip. Me and my missus are having em. We've had em a fair few times before (music festivals and stuff) but have always bought them from shops/stalls and never have bothered to check how many I'm buying. We're both average height and build. Plus, we've no really accurate weighing device so weighing a few grams would be impossible. What's a good number of average size shrooms for a good trip? They're cubensis cambodia by the way.

Cheers!

By the way, I've put a Picture set on Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/14346555@N03/sets/72157602207041390

I know the cakes haven't fully colonized but they took about two months to get to that state and I'm off travelling soon so wanted to get them in.

I've got one close-up photo there which I'm worried is mould growth. It's much lighter and more translucent than the mycelial growth.

harvest ur shrooms when the viels start to tear away. Most people dose about 2 grams dried.

birthing an uncolinised cake is not a very good idea, they will be prone to contamination, there may be a reason for them not fully colinising. If u really have to birth a cake because its stalled then u should cut of the uncolinised parts, though those look like thers alot of uncolinised parts.

Keep an eye on them, pic them as they r ready and watch out for contams, first sign, then ditch them.

U dont need to worry about heat degrading the actives it only happens under excessive heating. People have dried shrooms using dehdrators that heat without problems.

Cool. Doesn't seem to be a problem with contamination as yet but that could change. ROughly how many shrooms is 2 grams dried?

depends best way is just buy a digital pocket scale online for roughly 10 bucks. Personally i use a my-weigh and its lasted me 5 years and has a 30 year warranty on it. Best 15 bucks spent
