these logs have produced numerous times in the past 2 seasons.I really think its the millipede shit in this area that makes them grow so vigorously.about every 2 weeks new ones are there and they continuously pin from June on thru til about November.
you've never found gyms there yet? they have to be there.

I've found a couple old ones, never fresh. People have brought beautiful collections of luteus and junionus in to our mycological society meetings that were indeed found in north eastern Kansas, however they totally elude me.

cactu,I can even smell the millipede shit,it smells like horseshit almost.I don't know if it's really a contributing factor towards growth but it's possible I think.in places where there are alot of narceus americanus millipedes I see alot more gyms.
jair:poplars, maples, sycamore and elms along creeks, lakes, and rivers.I personally think that they grow more abundantly along rivers that are over a million years old.big slow moving rivers running through mountainous softwood/hardwood forests(big old growth and thick logged out second growth with a good dark canopy and lots of junk logs left behind.)that's about the best I can explain my places.I do find them well away from water but sparsely.

there is a study in forest that study what is the organism that degradate wood and incorporate nutritive materials to the enviroment and i many cases the millipedes where the number one specie, sometimes scarabide or mushroms, bacterias , but is importand that you mentioned , you see some relation , the best finds are trought observation , kepp doing it, i love it, this make me wonder what is best natural culture vs artificial culture...................you tell me . all my best

I think that maybe my small forest and recently man-made pond is not sufficient enough. I will have to do a bit of traveling to find anything. I know of a nice national park on a huge lake that is only about 10 minutes away and is set up in the mountains a little bit. I'll try out that spot when my leg heals a bit and we maybe get a little rain. Thanks for the help though.
