Think of paranoia as the defensive side of you. Now, make up an offensive so you can get off the defense. AKA, have an excuse and go pick their asses! Youre a botany student taking suprise samples for your class of 150. (large forum class). Ive never been refused as long as i have a camera and know what im talking about. With that excuse I was able to bring out a couple 100 specimens with no questions.

I no joke had 3 friends scouring a property for subbs on front and back lawns as I talked to the owners about the growth of mycelium and the different dangerous species. They are always down for education.

As long as youre not in astoria on woddchips or a private cowfield in texas the dangers of picking get really low... as long as you play it cool!

most police in the PNW only know about azures and cyans, occasionally libs, havent been asked what i was doing EVER when picking subbs (or any other mushroom) from grass. shit, lol so many people wanted to know why i was picking mushrooms from horse shit

when i was at my old woodchip cyan patch back in my hometown, i was sitting with my legs around this bush, and woodchips stretched all around me, i though i had hid myself well into these big bushed areas around me, but sure enough this lady comes out of the building and walks all the way across this huge parking lot, she must have had so many sweets that day she was panting and sweating. she yelled "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

I was in the middle of snipping a mushroom with my scissors and did the only thing a mycologists knows how to do

"well ma'am I found this patch of mycohorrizal related fungi that seems to have taken a liken to this particular bush and the habitat it provides in general, considering the substrate or prefered medium from which it likes to fruit is not what we have here, its near a damn miracle and an advancement in mycological knowledge as we know it to see such a feat like this going on, I was actualy just snipping a few samples with my scissors here as not to damage their delicate ecosystem. *holds one up for her to see*"

meanwhile im covered from head to toe with "econochrist" and "crucifucks" "reagan youth" "zounds" punk music patches and dirty street clothes all raggety hanging from me, im sure as hell I was drunk too :drunk:

the lady simply responded with "ok well dont cut our bushes anymore, you might be hurting them"

they dont understand a single word you say, if you appear smarter than they are about "nerdy nature" your probably as harmless as a fly

ive had quite a few cops ask me what I was doing a few times too, and I dont care to elaborate, but in all seriousness theres no way to prove you know what mushroom your picking until you spore print it, which isnt as easy as whipping a little device out on the sidewalk there and pushing a few buttons... so theres no way that anyone should feel wrong for what their doing.
even when you get picked up cause they think your picking them, if you keep your mouth shut usually the courts throw it out. paranoia is only giving them a reason to suspect you.

I also usually have 2-3 paper bags with various mushrooms in my backpack anyways
its a lot more obvious again when you have all the same kind of mushroom.

I also dress like a nerd when I go hunting
seems to keep the weird looks down a bit.

I can see being paranoid trespassing on some farmers property, picking cubes from the cow shit. thats about as obvious as it gets.
I wouldnt dare pick cyans from most of the popular patches either, the locals get smarter every year. high traffic is a no-no.

also, I dont ever harvest the whole patch.
a few handfuls is sufficient for 1-3 people to do some spore study, greed holds no mercy in the end and its greedy to love more than what you can hold with both hands. like a platform in the middle of a lake thats covered in gold, but your only allowed to visit it once, would you fill your pockets?

if you need it, nature provides.
you just have to know all its colors.

stay safe guys.

went by my patch again today, only 3 MEATY fruits, I left em to drop spores.

ill head back tomorrow for some habitat photos of the mature fruits, if not ill definitely head out in the next few days for a harvest, temps are supposed to drop down again and they usually fruit heavy whenever there is a cold break in the weather.

from Fliped's thread

went back today and got a habitat shot, since they were so big i brought em back for print

beautiful specimens, so MEATY.
:yesnod:

PNW

wow , this is something i´m beggining to see the paneolus subbalteatus is a cosmopolitan mushrroms , it grow even out of seasom i some areas , when irrigation is provided, what i´m starting to see are new races or strains of this species , with more the disare caracteristic, big fruit bodys, potend, and anbundand, prolific, mushrooms are evolving as all being are adapting , well i no doubt will see more and more this, more meaty ones, and perhaps is a future generations change complety to a new specie ,
