 Mycelial discharge post dunking...funny smell??

Hello again!
Ok, so Ive finally got a whole slew of cakes with CRAZY pins that look like they're all going to mature!! Woohoo!! But there's a problem on a couple of cakes...
I dunked these kind of early, maybe a week and a half or so after birthing them (BRF cakes, BTW). Maybe I should have only dunked them for 12 hours instead of 24. Two of the cakes formed small yellow puddles on the surface, and some of the mycelium turned an orangeish color after it sat there for a while, before I noticed it. From what Ive read, these yellow puddles are mycelium discharge, right? (fungus pee??) I think I took the proper steps by absorbing the excess fluid with a tissue. The thing is though, the stuff smells almost like fermenting yeast. Like a sweetish alcohol smell. Is this right? Out of caution, Ive got both cakes sitting in a 100:1:2 water/bleach/vinegar dunk right now, for maybe 10 minutes or so. Does everything sound OK? Is the mycelial discharge supposed to smell like that? Did I do the right thing?

Sounds okay to me, but I wouldn't have done anything more than blot the discharge. I think it's a mistake to dunk 'em again, they're wet enough!

we have recently discoverd that adding vinegar to the bleach dunk can actually make trich groqw faster.
so next time just use bleach and water, no vinegar.
