Store bought mushroom compost or store bought compost?

This article I'm reading suggest that store bought "mushroom compost" is the leftovers from what commercial mushroom growers use to grow their mushrooms on. So they are saying you are left with a substance that is very low in nutrients.
So if one wants to use store bought compost as part of their bulk substrate, should they buy normal compost or should they buy "mushroom compost" to get the most out of each harvest? (This is assuming one cannot make their own compost at the moment)
Additionally the article says that store bought mush compost has chemicals in it (which obviously the mushrooms will take up most likely and you'll eat em, yuck..) Article: http://www.simplegiftsfarm.com/mushroom-compost.html

if it says "mushroom compost" on the bag then its used compost that was used to grow mushrooms. straw is a good sub for bulk growing as a beginner its cheap and the teks are very easy with good yields (with or without casing)...prebagged compost vs straw per lb is a big difference in cost...free horse manure from a stable is best from what ive seen around here. but straw is so easy and cheap its all ill use
