What the hell is going on with my internet/network connection?
    #7467484 - 09/29/07 02:19 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

This is driving me nuts!

My connection will slow to a crawl within 3-4 days. Eventually it quits working altogether. To fix it, I have to power cycle the router and the modem. The wireless devices I have will often not even establish a connection. Though as soon as I power cycle, it's fine again.

Hardware issue, get a new modem, have your isp check the line codes running your card and port. See if they will change your card/port.

A connection to the outside world, or a connection to the wireless router? I am assuming the later. This would indicate the problem is with the router rather than the modem. Next time it happens, try to power cycle the router only and see if it starts to work or not. If so, the router is the problem. Assuming that the router is the problem, first check for a firmware update. If that doesn't help, try to do a hardware reset on the device (RTFM). Finally, if still not working, replace or live with the problem.

Actually it's the former. They will connect to the router, but I get and "Limited or No connectivity" error message for the net.

I have the Buffalo WHR-G54S, which I understand can use that 3rd party firmware but since I know very little about it, I've been reluctant to switch to it.

Is it something I can probably figure out?
