Tonights the night!

Tonight me and two close friends are going to a secluded campground in a national park about 2 hours outside of my college town. One of my friends is a veteran psychonaut, his drugs of choice being LSD and DMT, but he has agreed to be a trip sitter for me while I try shrooms for the first time. The plan is to just chill out in front of the fire, smoke some bud, and listen to my buddy tell us what patrolling the streets of Fallujah, Iraq is like (he is on a 2 week R&R from Iraq). He claims he has some pretty fucked up stories for us. Man I can't wait to start tripping and listen to them!
My main question is this: I'm excited to try shrooms, but I am also experiencing a little bit of nervousness, like the kind you get before you go on a sweet roller coaster ride. Its not a scared or apprehensive nervousness, but rather an anticipatory, excited nervousness. Could this ruin my trip, or even cause a bad, nightmarish experience given the fact that I will only be taking a gram? Also, is it possible to become permanently "fried" from just one experience with shrooms? For instance, could I fuck up my brain and be trapped in a bad trip forever? I know this sounds stupid, but I've heard a lot of horror stories about people going nuts after trying LSD just once. My psychonaut friend assures me that there is no validity to these stories, but I wanted your guys' opinions.
Well, I guess these are my last questions before I head out tonight. Thanks for the help!

That anxiety, I still get that even though I've already tripped. It's normal, and you might still feel it through your trip but in a good way.
Also, LSD is relatively safe(as much as mushrooms at least), and people don't go crazy consuming it.

Sounds like the government propaganda has gotten to you. You're going to have a good time. And I'm sure that, unless you've got some serious underlying mental disorders, you will not become "fried" from your first trip off a gram.
Enjoy!

A National Park? whoa man, be careful..i mean make sure theres absolutley NO ONE else there. A friend of mine tripped in some national park before and some park rangers rolled up on him and they called the cops.
I sometimes get anxious and shakey when i trip, but thats only on the come up and once the trip intensifies its all good.
If everything is fine(setting), then dont worry about anything and once you eat the shrooms go off and do something to take your mind off when the trip should start, it will come!

I don't know what to say considering the stew of meds you are already on except...
Good luck and I hope ya have a great time.
I don't know what it's like where you are but the weather here is great for tripping next to a fire with some good friends under the nearly full moon. Thinking about doing the same. If the right friends happen by the woods are just out my back door. We all partied pretty hard last night but at least I don't have to work tomorrow unlike today. Though I'm obviously not working too hard right now.

Read my sig.
-------------------- My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you. -The Joekenorer

Hey thanks guys.
The place we're going to is VERY secluded. According to my friend, no one else will be there. Its a small campground that was created by a bunch of heads back in the late 80s. You have to HIKE into it. There's no roads to reach it. Its a fairly well-known place amongst the hardcore stoners/trippers at my college because a)you won't run into anybody there and b) there is lots of awesome wilderness to explore around it.
So what should I expect as far as the shroom high goes? At one gram I know i won't have any visuals (right?) but is there any way to describe what the high is like? Damn im so excited!

Free flowing thoughts etc... Probably really giggly. It's a weird high to describe because it's pretty clear compared to pot and stuff.

Lsd can fry your brain, but probably not after the first time, unless you take a lot or have some sort of other mental problems that it would bring out.
If you want to try mushrooms, go ahead. I still havn't tried them yet but my suggestion would be not to trip while you're hearing about up close and personal stories about war in Iraq. I mean, you wouldn't take mushrooms and watch schindlers list, would you? Just seems like common sense to me.That could very likely give you a bad trip.

yeah, after a while into it you'll probably ask your friend to stop telling war stories, unless they're funny or happy.
You'll feel them in your skin and stomach first. You'll feel sleepy too, I tend to yawn my ass off on the come up and intermittently throughout the trip. Just ride it out. If your friends experienced, then don't be afraid to tell him to shut up orleave you alone for a while. He'll understand.
After it kicks in good, you'll find it to be a clear headed experience. Not muggling like weed. It's sort of like a controlled insanity. You'll likely enjoy it.
If you can't concentrate on anything at some point, just let go and allow your brain to explode then restabilize. The entire trip is an automatic thing, you'll only need to be there.

yeah i was thinking the same thing. yet, i have this feeling that shrooms might be able to connect me to my friend's war experiences like nothing else could. if the stories start to bring me down i'll just go hike around and experience nature.
also, i've been smoking weed for a long time, and i've learned how to manipulate and control my highs so that i can reach insights and conclusions i would be unable to attain if it were not for the weed. is there any way to do this with shrooms, or am i just "along for the ride?"

I reach total self omnipotence almost every time I trip. You can very much control your trip, with unbelievable effects. It takes practice and understanding though. After some experience, you'll find that you can control visuals, subconscious thought, involuntary body functions (This is very dangerous), memories, cognitive functions, occasional telepathy (with the right people) and even experience pure and unrepressed genius for short amounts of time. The brain is full of recessed abilities and ancient memory. Just remember, this experience isn't coming from the shroom, its coming from you. The shroom merely provided an alkaloid that fit your neural transmitters. Like a key in a door.

Some people know how to control it, but you'll have to re-learn how. ANd no, LSD does not "fry" your brain. Abuse can make you weird, because LSD is so powerful it tends to change you a bit.
