Tool show

Hey all. I'm going to Tool this coming up saturday!!! Hell yeah. Now I have a choice between taking mushrooms and acid. I am thinking probably acid because I get into Tool a lot more on acid than shrooms, shrooms I like more mellow stuff like Pink Floyd and Orb. So, I was just wondering, any suggestions for someone tripping at a concert?

Get a seat if you can, or if you're feeling brave, find a nice clam spot in the crowd. Make sure you piss before Tool start. It's annoying having to hold on to your bladder through all the support bands, and then by the time Tool start you're busting to go. Have some water with you. Have some buddies. Try and drop so that just as you start to peak, Tool start playing! And good luck. I've heard the new stage show has some great new art on it

I'll be going to see TOOL on the 24th in Wichita. I am still trying to decide what to take with me......shrooms, acid, weed, or pills. Life is just full of so many choices. Maybe a little of each.....nah, I don't want to die. Definately not coke.....that shit gets my heart racing like a lab rat, and beside it wears off too quick. Anyway, it should be an awsome show.

Yeah I'm hitting up TOOL for the second time on August 25th. Can't wait! Last time I saw them it was at a festival last summer, and they only jammed for an hour so it was kind of a "preview" for this show. I think I'll take shrooms for it... On a sort of related topic, I'm dying out here! We've hit a shroom drought for months! My "buddy" got some a few days ago, but I was working, so the asshole gave most of them away. While everybody was tripping balls on about 3 grams each, I was left with one gram. That did almost nothing. And he lied to my face when I asked how many he had. Fucker... awell, I'll get him back for it...

Have a fuckin blast everyone!
I'm going thursday, and we've got shrooms, but we're gonna take em this weekend instead. This round across the states will be their best EVER, with huge Alex Grey artwork hangin in the back, and a killer setlist. Respond in here after the concert, tell us how things went! i'll do the same after mine. judging from last year's show, and reviews of this one, i would rather shroom than fry, but even if you don't and you just toke it will be as if your trippin anyway, the experience will be THAT good.

Tool has never been really shroom-friendly with me until Lateralus. All of their older stuff is just too metalic sounding for me to get into when in my happy shroomy state. Acid went perfect with it, though. Lateralus changed all that, and Reflection is now one of my new favorite shroomsongs.
DAMN, I can't wait til Saturday. I wish the show was outside though, not in an arena. I would love to dance around in the mud to Tool while trippin.

Don't go to a show on any hallucinageons(sp?) if your in the crowd. Speed is the best for a show it keeps your energy level high.

I got seats, but I am thinking of hoppin over to GA when everyone else does. Probably not until Tool comes on, but it depends on how much i'm trippin, and if I feel like going into the pit. I don't think it will get too extreme in there. I am used to punk shows, so I think a Tool moshpit will be a lot more mellow, and less moshing and hardcore shit. I will try and post a setlist and experience. Probably not in this forum because of all the "reformation" going on here. So I'll post in OTD.

Man, the show last nite was incredible! The set design was awesome with 2 video screens and the titest looking backdrop. The whole concert was just one visual treat. I did not have the option of taking anything, 1) because my friend who took me doesn't do drugs and 2) cus i was in the pit!!! As soon as the lights went out in the forum, everyone started pushing towards the front and we got caught in a wave of people constantly moving forward. After tool came on, the mass of people on the floor started moving back and fourth like a wave. After about 2 minutes, the pit broke out right in front of us and we moved to the back edge of the pit to enjoy the performance. All I can say is that it was awesome!!!

Yea, I went to their show at the forum. I think the stage setup was incredible. Where were you sitting? I was in the pit!!! The concert was pretty long actually, an hour 1/2 is pretty long for a set but I think it was more like an hour and 45 minutes. Overall, it was one of the best concerts I've been to and the better of the 2 tool concerts I've been to.

ahhh just got back from the tool show in tucson, brilliant. their stage setup was so amazing with all the alex grey artwork and the lighting and stuff. anyone notice the lightrig above the stage was a 7 pointed star, like in the apple in the Parabola video? the band is tighter than ever. best concert in my life.

I was at that show. I had pit tickets too! That was fucking dope! What a great fucking concert. I was right up by the video screen almost the whole time. I could see everything, even maynard's expresion through his face paint and exactly how adam jones was playing. I sparked up a jay during 46 & 2. It was some bomb chronic and I mixed some hash in there too.

Damn, tommarow is the big day. I am so excited. Except now, my friend, who I am going with, got a hold of some E. I've never done ectasy before, I am thinking this just might be the perfect first trip, but I am not sure. Well, can't wait for the show, from what I am hearing, I am not going to be dissapointed. ~Peace~

hm i dunno if its the right setting for e... the show progresses very nicely with the songs and visuals and stage set going from the earthly and sensory into the spiritual. but in the beginning and mostly for the songs not off lateralus they're not the most pleasant images, and the crowd doesn't seem to be E compatible. but if you can keep it to yourself i spose you could go with it. but if you haven;t done E before, if i were you i';d hold off til a better setting. tool is less the feeling good and more the spiritual and mind IMO.
hehe i'm still trying to fathom what i saw last night, and i was sober. it will be great fuel for my trip tomorrow. have fun!

ALRIGHT!!!
Went to the concert last night, went with two friends, and my two brothers, all of us had seats together. I ended up splitting an eighth of mushrooms with a friend just before the concert. We got inside, and Tomahawk was already playing. We listened for a little, but didn't make our way to our seats yet. Well, my brothers did, but us other three just hung around. Ran into some other friends that were there. They said that when Tool came on, they were going to sneak into the pit, too. So we all decided to go together. So far my mushrooms hadn't kicked in too much. My stomach was just a little queasy. Anyways, we make it to our seats, hang out. Tomahawk was alright. They had some trippy guitars, but the lead singer did not have the right sound. He was screaming too much. Then they got off the stage, then we left and met up with our other friends again. It took a while for tool to setup, then the place went a little dark, and a bunch of people started rushing the pit, so we did too. But we didn't get in. Security caught us. So after that, we all split up, and I didn't see them for the rest of the concert. About five minutes later, I was finally able to get into the pit. Then Tool came on, started with Sober, then into The Grudge. I started to feel the mushrooms. And I felt a bad, hot, sweaty, vibe all around me. So I decided to get out of the pit, and I went back to my seat. Tripped out. Not too many visuals or anything. The mushrooms were pretty mellow, and worked perfect to put me in the greatest mood. It was a great time, and Tool was amazing. Here is the setlist, as good as I can remember it. I am quite sure it is not in the right order, but its close.
Sober Grudge Stinkfist Schism AEnima Parabol\Parabola 46+2 Eon Blue Apocalypse\The Patient
Then a ten minute "intermission" type thing with a lot of bass, and trippy effects going on. Plus this huge head on the screen that kept caving in and expanding. I think this was about when I hit my peak. Everything was tripping me out, and this orange light was pointing right on me, and I felt so alive. Then after the intemission.
Disposition Reflection Triad
Then another intermission where Maynard addressed the crowd, and thanked everyone for coming, then.
Lateralus
Again, I don't think the order is perfect, and I know I probably left out a song or two. But it did seem a little shorter than it should have been. Plus, they played every song off Lateralus except ticks and leeches, and they didn't play one song of Opiate, and just Sober off of Undertow. I would have liked for them to mix it up some. But all in all, I can't complain, I got my moneys worth 100 times over. I KNOW I can never go see Tool again sober. Their music, and stage setup was so trippy, they are true artists IMO. Also, Maynard was playing guitar. He played a lot of the songs off Lateralus as backup guitar to Adam. I have seen them before, and this was the first time I saw Maynard play guitar. I never knew he did.
Well, I'll probably work up a full report to post in the Trip Reports. Hope this wasn't too long of a read. Peace

I was supposed to see Tool at Edgefest last year but logistical issues forced us to eat the tix. When I do see Tool I hope it is a real mixed up setlist. I like surprises. My dream setlist would be:
Third Eye The Grudge Stinkfist Eulogy Mantra/Schism Sweat Prison Sex H Intermission/jimmy Flood Pushit
Recently they've been mixing it up more. They played 4 degrees and Crawl Away not too long ago. I have to see too before California slips into the ocean.
