Need Advice from the More Experieced

I'm very excited. I ordered some High mountain compost, this will be my first time using it and I have heard such great things about it.
Unfortunately there is a potential problem. My jars look VERY close to %100 colonized and my HMC wont arrive for 5-7 days. I am really worried that my cakes will move into the fruiting phase before I can spawn them.
What are my options here?
Thanks,
-CT

not that it wont happen you don't want the myc to get outta the growing phase, and into fruiting phase..Just as soon as you see that they are 100% colonized give em about 3 more days and then if you still don't have the compost put them in the fridge if you can , if not possible , then the coldest climate you can find to keep the growth rate down.. out side isn't a bad Idea depending where you live, perhaps after dark then inside during the daylight hrs

Thanks Vegan, I figured this would be my best bet as well.
Will throwing them in the fridge temporarily stall growth, or just slow it to a snails pace?
Could attempting to temporarily stall/slow growth this way have any potentially negative effects?
Thanks,

What about vigorously shaking them to buy you some time? Would that work?

Too many shakings cause undue stress by breaking strong hyphea networks. Leave it alone. There is nothing wrong with leaving it to continue colonizing. It takes a combination of factors to initiate fruiting.

you pf-tek/brf jars will need at least a week past the point of appearing fully colonized before they're ready for birthing and even then they'll probably take a while after that.
when converting them to a crumbled spawn for a bulk substrate I still let them go a full week past looking fully colonized before I pull them out and crumble them up.

shaking them can cause pre pinning,
and your jars WILL fruit prematurely, i had a cake grow pins with only 65% colonized yesterday

I am using pf jars.
I have heard people say they wait a week or so after it looks 100% colonized before birthing before. If I dont introduce any pinning triggers and just let sit at room temperature, will they stall out if I let them sit long enough? How long is too long?
If I'm going to be waiting a little longer for my shit than I should (based on the growth stage of my cakes), then putting them in the fridge is a good idea? Could putting them in the fridge cause any negative effects? i.e. Stall
Also, I think I should mention that one of the strains I am using is Texas. I have had these fruit in jars before (invitro) from just letting them sit in the closet to long. In other words I didnt introduce any pinning triggers. Should I put this strain in the fridge as a precaution?
Thank you,
-CT

U should be fine. If ur jars are neer 100% then it sounds like it will be another 2 3 days before they are and u wanna leave them another week. So ur stuff should arrive when they are just about ready.
Give the cakes a 24hr dunk before crumbling

Really? I used to use Tenn Stud and never heard of dunking the cakes before crumbling. This time around I am using High Mountain Compost.
I have always birthed my cakes to hpoo when they look 100% colonized. However, I used to not check up on my cakes regularly, so when I checked them and they looked 100% colonized they could have already looked 100% colonized for 0-7 days or so. Never had a problem birthing the cakes though. Although I have heard before that you are supposed to give them an additional week, why is this?
BTW: I haven't checked my cakes since Thursday, when some of them looked 80%-90% colonized. I would assume by now that almost all of them look 100% colonized and have looked that way for a few days. I am still waiting to hear back from High Mountain Compost on the status of my order. Hopefully I will receive my Order on Thursday or Friday, but what if its not until next week?
If I start to get worried then what should I do? Put the jars in the fridge like some people were talking about earlier?
Thanks,
-CT

ur right its not in any of the casing teks for pf cakes, but i dont see how it would not help by rehydrating the mycelium.

Don't dunk before spawning to bulk. Don't place them in the refrigerator unless you plan to store the cakes for a month. Don't shake brf cakes.
They'll be fine at room temperature for over a month after full colonization. Simply use when you get your compost. RR

Hey RR,
Pf cakes are the same as brf cakes?
I have had my texas fruit invitro before without the introduction of any fruiting triggers but hey, if your (RR) telling me not to do a thing then I'm not going to do a thing.
Thanks,

Hey RR, you know any good invitro strains offhand?
I already use Texas and Texas Gol which ralphster says are good for invitro.
Thanks,
