well its my first run with pan cyans so i am not sure if its all good, this is rye grain spawn inoculatd with a multispore syringe.

those looking like they are supposed to ? the flash makes them look whiter than they appear to the naked eye.
all cool ?
would you shake those jars once more in order to be sure to catch the last uncolonised kernels ?

be gentle is recommnended. Like roll rather than shake. But they look fully colonized already, 2 and 3 for sure.

since i started adding gypsum to the water while pasteurizing grains (prior to sterilizing)or lightly dredging them with it (gypsum)while "hair-driering" them, i haven't found the need to "shake the shit out of them in order to get the grains to separate. a side to side rapid twisting motion and tap against the palm is all that i have found to be required. once separated it seems easier to me,and quite therapeutic, to equally distribute the colonized grain...they seem to stay whiter, and therefore more distinguishable... by rolling and tilting the jars back and forth, rather than just haphazardly "shaking the shit" out of them.

to each his own, the jars are like 99.999% colonised there are only like 5 kernels on the very top that do not look colonised, however they are properly hydrated.
im a bit pissed, i dont want to shake the jars just because of like 5 kernels that arent colonised, well i guess ill just wait till monday.

some growers give their jars a shake the day before spawning to bulk. those few grains that don't seem to be fully colonized will at least be covered in the "good stuff". as long as you use your usual clean practice for spawning, i can't see it being a problem. good luck with your first attempt with a different species. making a first attempt with an edible species, (like cubensis aren't nutritious?)at the moment myself.

Pan myc is flimsy :P THat looks damn near 100%, those five kernels not being colonized can be removed, or give a simple shake.

it's only panaeolus myc that's supposed to be weaker and can stall if shaken the shit out of. Though obviously not in your case. Anything else, shake it hard! But I'd only do it once. If you think it's not ready just give it more time.
