An Ease In Change
    #7466026 - 09/28/07 11:27 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

First off, I've been mildly depressed for a good while after being severely depressed for even longer. Cue to me, I need to continue working toward my goal of stability and zeal for life...

I've repeatedly visited a few concepts that "click" and give me hope for my "repair", only to knock myself from the track in a week or so. I've believe that my social ineptness causes this refuge into what's comfortable though ultimately, not my goal. I really need to buckle down on confidence and gain the steam I need to "repair". I know that I have the ability to "repair" as I see it, but fear the effect I may cause my peers. I'm talking about a 180 degree flop. I know it's possible but need to have help in easing the response I may or may not get from my peers.

Some of these goals include: self confidence, revived empathy, abolishment of such a high degree of self pity, lol...caring less about what others think, and also self confidence

Any suggestions?

It looks like you already know what you have to do.
So, maybe you're not tired of your current state yet.
Perhaps there is still something that draws you to feeling weak.
I suggest the you analyze what's that and then draw your own conclusions.

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

PEACE

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

Doing volounteer work builds confidence. I have reccomended this with success to many people. In my area, I generally reccomend trees for houston, and arborial society that focuses on planting trees. Generally, the people you are surrounded by that do volounteer work are genuinely happy, and it rubs off on you..

Thanks to all of you guys for the kind input.  Sometimes to express my thoughts and hear from anyone is enough to get me focused.  :psychsplit:

I did some volunteer work this weekend (with bonus point motives) removing invasive exotic species from our greenway. After about an hour and a half, I was really enjoying myself, the hard work, and let my guard down and talked to a lot of the people there. Plus, when being forced to work together (well, situations always arise when it takes more than one person to do something, and they willingly come over and help) also helped me to lighten up

it definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it

Thats great. I feel that we must step out of our comfort zone from time to time to truly live life. I'm glad that you had a chance to do some volounteer work... It really does bring out the best in people... I think the dynamic involves positive thinking coupled with uniting for a common goal.
