MAGGOTS

I had 6 jars and Just went to check on one that wasn't colonizing. At a glance i noticed the jar appeared to be partially empty. WTF I thaught to my self as I went to examine it closer. MAGGOTS! Sick shit! I tossed the jar immediatly, not wanting to even look at the sick mother fucker squirming in there. As the other jars are fine I'm sure it was a case of eggs being laid in the Verm layer. The question is are the other jars fine? They look fine and are fully colonized. I was planning on poping them in the incubator in 24hours. Considering how much of that other jar was consumed I'm assuming any eggs layed in the other jars just became nutriants or they too would be partially eaten..

also I should ad that I'm pretty sure the jar with the maggots was a jar that I inoculated with what was left of a 6 month old syringe of golden teacher the rest were done with a fresh PFstraine syringe

The eggs wernt in the syringe. I'm pretty positve the eggs were layed in the verm from flys that got in the container. I've oppened it befor to find a couple gnats fly out. IT was the standard BR pf tek. The other 5 jars look like they should and have been colonized for a little while now, I just haven't had time to incubate them tomarow I will for sure.

but verm isn't nutritious no reason for flies to lay larvae unless you are using poo substrate that isn't properly pasteurized.

put tin foil on your jars! if you're conservative, you can get a 25ft roll for 1.39 and it'll go a long way
you shouldn't be taking the tops off your cakes >.>

Not helping. It had tinfoil. the jars are fully 100% so I really am not to worried about mold contaminations at this point. It wasn't as if i unscrewed the lids, poke around inside with my fingurs then left it with out there lids tosit.

thats the most disgusting form of contamination I've ever heard on here yet
if I saw maggots in my jars I'd freak, and probably end up throwing it in panic
