something delicious? eh
    #7464692 - 09/28/07 03:24 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Found these on a bed of hardwood, wood chips. as you can see;

They look like a kind of hygro. but I'm really not sure, I can't really seem to find anything in my books that resembles them. The smell is delicious with a hint of pepper.

you can see them fruiting from under the chips and bark;

the gills are the similar to the color of the cap, sorta light creme with a slight hue.

theres also you can notice on some of the more mature fruitings there is a bit of scalling on the upper part of the stem.

I agree, almost certainly light color blewits.

The only other thing it could be is a Clitocybe. But all the blewit features match up, especially the way the caps change as they age.

$10 or $15 a pound sounds fair to me.

Whole foods sells Lepista saeva for $20 a pound.

I was thinking 10-12 dollars a pound myself. I certainly wouldn't let them go for any less than 10 dollars a pound.

Hmm? Well, he prob found more than he can eat himself, and what's wrong with making some $ to put towards more time mushroom hunting?? I'm sure he is asking because he doesn't want to rip the guy off or vice versa. Just looking for a fair deal.

? why does it always have to always have to be about money. You're looking at entirely all wrong. this is good fung, most delicious stuff I usually gather more then I can give away, and besides the the guy I sell them too is a good friend of mine, who owns a local organic grociery store right downtown. bringing in locally hunted delicious fungus. sure brings in the attention. :boobs:
