I Have Brain Damage

My muscles keep twitching, and occasionally get very tense, it feels really annoying... when I was a stupid teen I took a huge OD of meds and although I'm not saying it necessarily affected my condition I used to abuse dextromethorphan fairly often... (no I don't need an opinion whether it sucks or not, I love(d) it )
Well this isn't exactly ruining my life, actually I'm mostly very positive, I guess I'm writing this to know if someone else has similar problems and how you deal with it (of course I hope no one has them). I hate doctors, but maybe someone can suggest any self-help...
So yeah, I don't notice any other effects than those on my motor functions. Right now my legs feel really tense and generally my movements are kind of awkward, small sharp movements I can't control, annoying twitches. I'm not sure how much other people notice this, but sometimes I hear stupid druggie comments, although it might be just my general appearance Diazepam helped but I don't want to get too used to that crap Sometimes when I drank half a can of some energy drink before work I had real trouble eating my lunch with a fork, because my hands didn't work like I wanted them to... caffeine worsens it a lot but it doesn't seem to go away without it either. On a worse day even walking is really awkward.
I think about the possibility that it's all in my head (lol) but I can try to relax and it just won't go away. The tension and stuff don't really prevent me from doing normal activities, they annoy me mostly. On some days I barely notice anything. Thoughts? Yeah this is a pretty lame post for a complete newbie but it's what's on my mind right now...

Well, no one here is going to be qualified to respond to this. I reccomend you see a doctor though. I've met a lot of hardcore druggies in their 50's who have done what you have on a regular day to day basis since they were a teen. Even though they are pretty fucking dumb, they still have complete motor control.
Could be parkinsons, or maybe it's in your head?

I believe I may have an actual disorder called tardive dyskinesia... I wasn't clear enough, the od I referred to was on antipsychotics (which I didn't really need etc. but it's a long story and irrelevant). I don't really like attempting self-diagnosis but on paper the symptoms seem to fit.
I mean, I can't be making this up, I'm fully sober and my muscles are twitching like hell

i have somthing like that called essential tremmor, you might also want to look into dystonia, another muscle twitching disorder........
consider talking to a doctor or a neurologist.

Yeah thanks for the replies, I dunno, I'll probably go see a doctor at some point but I don't want to think about it too much.
I'm way too young for this, only a little over 20, it's pretty fucked up. Especially hate if my face muscles twitch, I hope it's not noticeable

Umm, as in my eye moving? Never... What I mostly notice is tense are my legs, and the twitches happen in every part of my body, I think pretty randomly.
EDIT: I found something that describes the tension really well: "Tardive akathisia involves painful feelings of inner tension and anxiety and a compulsive drive to move the body. In the extreme, the individual undergoes internal torture and can no longer sit still." (from wikipedia article on dyskinesia) I wished I had a truckload of diazepam right about now

I agree, these early symptoms could be signs of just about anything. GAD, TD, TA, MS...I could go on. I highly doubt that it was from your OD on anti psychotics though. I suggest that you ask your regular doctor for a referral to a neurologist. I know you don't want to see the doctor (who really does?) but this could be something serious, and I think you need to get it checked out.

Well that sounds reasonable... not what I would have wished or expected to hear, I was thinking it was the OD anyways and not more serious.... (possibly)
100% of my financial focus is on not becoming homeless for the next 2 months at least, so the doctor will probably have to wait since this isn't acute, I've had it for a couple of years

Doesn't Scandinavia have socialized medicine? I've read some Michael Moore interviews in my day and I know he wouldn't lie to me about Scandinavia having socialized medicine.

Which antipsychotic did you OD on and how much did you take? Are you still taking prescription antipsychotics? I had a mild tremor on Risperdal (as well as gaining 50 lbs. in 3 months) and decided it was NOT worth taking.
I'm sorry to hear that you can't afford to go to the doc, because ideally, that's what you should do. I know what it feels like to have to research your own condition or not have health insurance, as do so many others. I think it's a good idea to ALWAYS research your own condition yourself, because doctors could never know your body like you do. They mostly just wanna control the symptoms with as little effort as they can without looking for a cause like you're doing. Keep searching and see if there's anything you can do short of going to the dr. or hospital to treat your symptoms. You'd be surprised what's out there.
Did these symptoms begin after taking the OD of meds? If so, how long after? Do any movement disorders run in your family? What other symptoms are you having, if any? These are probably the same questions a doctor would ask and could help you come to a conclusion. I'd try to read up on as many movement disorders as possible and then begin by ruling out things it's NOT.
Hope that helps, and good luck! Be healthy, safe, and happy!

Tardive dyskinesia has actually been associated with use of antipsychotics.

Oh yeah, like waiting 2 years for heart surgery Or waiting for 12 hours in a crowded hall having a migraine and no relief for it. Or going to mental health services when you're under a lot of stress, crazy from sleep deprivation and get sent home with really nasty antipsychotics.... I had to pay 15 euros once when some guy called an ambulance for me You get the picture. Fucking useless
I have to see a "social worker" next week for my rent and food problems, they can tell me how I would go about getting to a (private) doctor and if it costs me...
MK Ultra: It was olanzapine, I don't know how much, but it knocked me out for 2 days and I felt shitty when I woke up. I had used it a little (maybe 2-4 weeks or something) in small doses before that. Twitching started right around the OD. No movement disorders in family that I know of... I don't know if I have any relevant symptoms, for a while I thought I might have hep C (but I'm pretty sure I don't although I didn't test), only health issue I have is that I feel very nauseous almost every day for a couple of months... doesn't seem like anything serious, I don't vomit only start gagging for no apparent reason

Omg dude, you are just totally dehydrated, I suggest consuming large amounts of water and resting regularly, like, on a schedule and shit. I bet to god you are an insomniac. NO MEDS!

Huh what? Nah it's been going on way too long, and I generally sleep fine I've tried improving my diet and drinking lots of water, at some point I cooked healthy vegan foods every day myself, I've taken necessary vitamins and minerals that I know of and no effect.
Oh well it's better today Looks like an awesome day
