LC to Coir...

Has anyone ever tried using LC directly into a coir substrate? I'm thinking about trying it unless someone lets me know that it's a rediculous idea... Thaaaanks.

I have done it, with minimal results. Coir is already pretty wet, and the LC just adds to much moisture for it to grow properly. I'm not saying it can't work, because I have done it before, but it's not worth risking the LC.

So. Overwetting the coir is the main issue? Seems like one could squeeze the coir a wee bit extra to account for the new mouisture from the LC. You said it DID work for you though? I just love coir, and how resistant to contaminants it is. I keep scorpions and tarantulas as well and I've had buckets of coir sitting around for weeks with no contams. It rules. I'd love it if I could skip the pain in the ass grain step, EVEN IF it takes longer, or yields are less... Feel free, oh ye shroom cultivation lords, to let me know this is a dumbass idea!

Try it, like I said, I have had it clonize a half pint jar before. But out of 6 only one grew anything.
It seemed a moisture issue to me, but it might be something other than that.

Aw, F it... I'm gonna try it. Not like it will be a big loss if nothing happens. But if it does work, I will be a very happy camper. Please, any others who have tried it, chime in.
I have done mycobag spawn to coir as a bulk substarte and the myc just flies through the stuff. Maybe LCing the coir in the same type of container (Six inch long/four inch deep disposable plastic food storage container) instead of a jar would work better for moisture issues. Like I said, I shall try it!

I did on my second grow.
Various combos of coir/BRF/Verm. I used LC on the more coir jars to try to avoid contams. A few grew nicely, but some contaminated pretty bad. I remember them looking like those mixed peanut butter & jelly jars. The ones that did colonize I let grow in-vitro and got 15 g wet out of 2 - 1/2 pints and a 1/4 pint.
I called them chocolate cakes.

no but I am doing a experiment with 1 half pint cake innoc with 2.5 cc of LC (4 days of quick colonization!!!) done without a PC to a full 2 quarts of coir/coffee

so far so good spawned on the 13 th of this month

1 half pint cake of BRF I assume. I'm interested in information from anyone that tried to inoculate directly to coir. Unless you mean you made a 1/2 pint coir cake! *gets hopes up*

Like I said, I don't believe it has an efficient result, but it is possible.
Also, I haven't tried every possible way of innoc'ing coir. I.E, changing the moisture, temp, and LC measurements. Adding BRF will just make it a PF cake pretty much, I add coir to my grain jars sometimes to help with excess moisture. (the coir sucks up all the droplets that form from my TIT incubator)
Don't let anyone say it's impossible unless they know and have done it themselves. I say it is possible in the right circumstances, and if you feel it's worth trying, go for it.

I have read about people adding spent ground coffee to the coir.
Check the search function for coir + coffee maybe there will be something helpful
