Good cheap polypropylene containers

Thought I'd share a little low budget tek with ya guys. If you have a Smart'n Final next to your house you are in luck. They sell sleeves of reusable polypropylene quart, pint, and quarter pint containers that I have used for quite a while now with excellent results. The quarts come in sleeves of 25 and the others in 50 for about 5 bucks. The lids come in packs of 100 for 5 bucks. Just put the lids on loose and cover with aluminum foil then PC. Snap lids on with foil on after you are done while still warm. The advantage to using them is they are fat and help retain good moisture in the cakes. Also tapered to allow easy birthing with no slamming the cakes whatsoever.

Also the quarter pint dishes work great for petri dishes. I put a 1/2 inch hole in the lid and pop a injection plug in. Putting a 1/8 inch hole and dabbing with rtv works great too if you have no plugs.

I use micropore tape on a hole for gas exchange when necessary.
