can head shrinkers help? or are they quacks? how can someone talking to you fix anything? like a real dr can cut you open and take out the bad parts.. a shrink cant really do that. my wife goes to see one since shes crazy. i think her craziness has effected me in some way. do i go to a shrink or just absorb everything like ive done for the last million years and suck it up? i know lifes a bitch and not easy, but can these guys really do something? any insight?

A shrink will never solve your problem, you do that for yourself.
What a shrink can do is help you put things in perspective and make you more able to see the roots of your problems. And maybe help you feel more relaxed and comfortable with yourself, which is extent will help you solve your own shit.
Still, you're the only one who can really clean all the mess up.

It's not that simple.
You can't really tell you know the roots of your problems until you understand them and how they work.
Some shrinks would tell you only that you mother did it, others would go further and make you understand how you fears and frustrations work.
What are your weak points and what you can do to fix that.
For example, some problems might be caused by the ways in which you were educated, how your parents treated you and the outlook on life they imprinted on you. But realizing that these things belong to the past, as well as the fact that you need to stop considering yourself as being a victim would be the next step in order to heal yourself.
We already know, on a more or less conscious level what we need to do so we feel better. We already have the perspective of the better selves in our minds, so what we cal always do is to access that new self and then start acting accordingly.

A psychologist or theripst will never be able to help you until you are more open and positive about the work they do.

They see your situation, and present different angles of views for you to explore the situation. They also use other patients or other scenarios as examples to help you see the issue in a different light.

The best aspect of seeing a psychologist for me, is that I always leave his office feeling like the issue at hand is not as big and scary as it seems to be.
