My turn for help
    #7463106 - 09/28/07 04:56 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Hi all, first time poster, amateur tripper. After a visit to my local cow pasture I came into contact of some shrooms that I don't trust myself to specify. They were growing in an around cow dung, white stem, 3-5 in tall, white caps, green-blue gills and darker blue-black staining when drying. Any help? Pictures come as soon as I find muh' camera ((Ish' early and I'm tired XD))

::edit:: I'm from South Carolina, if this helps, and yes I'm taking a spore print. Thanks for your help, guys!

Growing straight from the dung or around the dung or both?

Green/blue gills sounds like Chlorophyllum molybdites, poisonous.

The staining of cubensis will not be black at all, it will be very blue.

If the spore print is olive coloured its Chlorophyllum molybdites

No spore print yet :frown:

The stem has no rings, and the caps are about 2-3 cm across.

**goes to dig for his camera**

Thanks for the help thus far, Undergrounder. I've come into contact with Chlorophyllum molybdites and these seem to be smaller than what I see with the others.

And on second inspection, the staining while drying *IS* Blue, albeit very dark

Molys will make you vomit and shit both simultaneously and violently for 4 to 6 hours.

In case you ever accidentally find yourself in this situation, you should drink water everytime you shit and/or vomit. It helps fight the dry heaves and severe stomach cramps. After a few rounds you'll notice that your vomiting and shitting clear water along with a few bits of the offending mushroom. Just keep up the routine for however many hours it takes. And just to let you know, this isn't intermittent shitting/vomiting, this is repeated. You will not leave the bathroom throughout the entire ordeal. getting the water in you is tricky when your heaving and heaving repeatedly.

I speak from traumatizing experience. Please be careful.

My favorites are weeping willows, which aren't really weeping at all. They're very wispy, witty and will dance in the breeze with you. Nothing like a tree that wants to dance with you. Although it doesn't like its thin limbs being pulled at all, it absolutely LOVES it when you walk through them, letting them gently slide over your face and shoulders. If you're naked, the willow considers it to be sex. It will orgasm on your mind and you will blow dream chunks into outer space. All very fun until your neighbor sees you.                                    -The Joekenorer

Joe, I know what experience you speak from. The same has happened to me, though instead of the offending mushroom coming up, it was copious amounts of blood as well. <.<

I chewed a cap at around 6pm yesterday and noted none of the effects described above.

Not a third, but the third. I'm okay though (having gone through poisoning before) ..now I just need my camera for a positive ID.

Oh, I ate mine loooong ago, back in 96'. I had picked and eaten cubes many times before that, but I was not educated about other types of mushrooms, especially the ones that looked a little like cubes, such as the moly. Amazingly I survived 7 years of shrooming before I decided to properly educate myself, thats when I discovered the shroomery. (I ghosted it for a few years before I finally signed up). I'm so glad that theres a resource out here to educate the inexperienced. Just imagine the countless lives its already saved.

The size of green gills can vary quite a bit, but there aren't many (any?) white mushrooms that have blue/green gills that aren't molybdites. Cubensis definitely won't be blue/green and will be more beige/purpley/brown.

Cubensis will have a ring.

I can't believe you have been poisoned by a mushroom before and still decided to eat this one without an ID. I don't think anyone deserves to die but man some people come close. :roulette:

Check that the spore print isn't white.

It is the only mushroom with green spores, but color is kind of subjective so I won't make any other broad generalizations.
