my spider room-mate
    #7462999 - 09/28/07 03:22 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

there is a spider that lives in my living room window. every night he comes down and runs across the floor towards my kitchen and then later back again. he standing still about a foot away from me now.

to be honest i don't like him leaving his window, spiders freak me out, and since i sit in his path every night i'm worried he's going to crawl on me or bite me.

he's pretty big for an american spider, fast runner too.

what do i do? do i just throw him out the window? or should i let him stick around and run by me every night as long as a confrontation doesn't develope?

It seems really cool that the spider has such predictable behavior!

I would say, if you really don't want it in your house, find a way to capture it and release it outside. Otherwise, just letting it be seems fine... if it hasn't bitten you yet, I doubt it's going to.

i put him back into his window and like 10 minutes later he's a foot away from me again.

so now he's sitting in a chinese food container on the window, i'll let him out before i go to sleep.

what kind of spider is it do you know? sounds like a huntsman, if so it wont bite you, and will eat all the bugs that live in your house

but if its something poisonous you should consider putting it out in the garden.

I never kill spiders. Only really dodgy looking ones that i cant catch and put outside.

They dont fuck with you unless you fuck with them.

That's why I wake up with big ass welts a few mornings out of the month...

Pretty neat that its behavior is so predictable though, but be careful, that little bastard is probably twisting his mustache right now deciding whether or not to turn on you.  I'd help it to find a new home if I were you.

Make a picture and show us what kind of beastie you have!

Perhaps he's stalking your cat, or isn't it that big a spider?

Know how Spidy is going to reward your humane attitude? By getting pregnant and unleashing a few dozen spiderlings onto your room. Then it will be rush hour of big spiders to and from your kitchen.

the least you should do is throw a mouse at it so it gets distracted and then, putting your back into it, shoving it out of the window.

nah by big i mean his body is about the size of a nickel (not including legs)

and my question was rendered moot, because while i was sleeping, he did his running into the kitchen thing and my girlfriend tossed him outside.

its slightly possible he'll find his way back but i doubt it.

size of a nickel? bah, that's a baby spider. we have crickets in arizona that would kill and eat your pansy spider.

Ya, I never kill spiders. I have this slight phobia thing but I still think they're kind of cool. I would like to have a pet tarantula.

I get lots of spiders in my room and I kill them on sight, that's because I think they're hobo spiders though, getting bit by one is bad news.
