LC colonizing question...
    #7460148 - 09/27/07 12:28 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

As an LC colonizes does the mycelium generally collect on the bottom of the container?

My LC mycelium sinks. I've heard of others' floating. I think it's simply dependent on the density of the medium.

Cool, it's nice and white, but it seems like it sank to the bottom, so it had me worried.

you need to mix it around like swish the jar around for a few minutes each day, i just recently made my first LC culture too. I didn't do this but some people put a piece of glass in the jar so it breaks the myclieum up as you shake it around.

Yea I was about to post about this when I saw this thread.

My lc looks like it has a bunch of fuzz in it, I'm guessing this is myc, but im not sure.

It did sink to the bottom and mix around when I shook it.

So if mine does have myc, then yes it will sink

why does it really need to be mixed except when you are about to make a syringe to get it broken up enough to suck in?

i guess mixing it around every few days, help keep the mycelium from clumping together, i just left my first lc and i had a hell of a time sucking it up in the syringe.

My second lc was really misty then started clumping.

Next time round im gonna do it better by adding broken glass and using a jar rather than shot glass and tinfoil (it did work but it was a waste of lc as i had to open it up)

my LC was started a week ago, and im seeing little or no growth,  I made 3 different batches with 3 different syringes.  theres stuff on the bottom of some of the jars, and in others it seems to be floating in the middle.
