First Flush Pics...Update!!!

Here are some updated pics that I took this morning before I left for work. These are from the first flush of my first grow ever! Things seem to be looking good so far. I don't see any aborts yet, but maybe there are some b/c I am still a newb. Although, this morning when I was looking at them, one of the baby pins/mushrooms fell off somehow. It was laying there on the perlite, looking wounded as if it had been shot or something! At first, it looked like it was growing from the perlite b/c it was standing up. Anyway, I hope that I'll get more flushes with just as good results. Let me know what ya think!!!

Nice! I hope I'll get as good a result as you. I have my first five jars at 98% colonization at the moment, so I'll go ahead and birth them next week.
Good luck with next flush!
edit: P.S. If you're concerned with privacy you should probably remove those exif tags in your photos, they contain your cameras serial number which would be trackable. Of course, you're only taking pictures of other peoples pictures, or the shrooms are edible legals! But still

Thats AWESOME! They look great. I'm about at 70% right now with six jars.
One question that I still haven't decided is: Did you pre-wet your perlite THEN put it into your FC? Or did you lay down the perlite THEN add water. I'm looking to see what is better, and I'd like to see results like yours.
As for the pics, they look incredible.

generally it's more convenient to wet the perlite before putting it into the fc.

no problem. both ways are possible but putting perlite onto a sift and rinsing it with water in the sink works best: that way you can wait until excess water drains out and leaves just the right amount.

Yeah I actually tried this out last night just to see what I was in for, I like testing things out prior to the "real deal" just to know what's in store for me. I just dumped my perlite in a big ass bowl, added water, then poured the contents thru a pasta strainer and made sure to drain out all the excess water, and it worked fine. I just thought maybe that would be TOO wet, but then I thought, I'm not going to let the cakes sit directly on the perlite, so who cares?
Anyways thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

I agree with Boredstiff...It is much easier to rinse and drain first! If you put the perlite in first and then try to wet it, you may end up with a mess. I'm assuming you're using the shotgun FC, so you'd have water dripping out all over the place. You may have something under your FC, but still it would just be more hastle than it's worth. I'd also recommend putting something under your FC so it's not just flat on whatever surface you are using. That way, air can flow through the bottom holes much better to help raise the RH. GL

I use exiftool, but that's a *nix app. and I'm guessing you're running windows. I would guess that photoshop can remove them. Or you could just open them in photoshop, copy the layer and create a new image and past it there and save
Otherwise, just: exiftool -all= mypicture.jpg
edit: or http://www.steelbytes.com/?mid=30 seems should do it.

Thanks Juris and Boredstiff! I've just been trying to research everything on my own before I actually asked any questions, I didn't want to get flamed for being a newb, as that all goes.
But thanks for the kind words and all the help.

No problem...we all were new at one point or another. I think some people forget that and get their panties in a wad too easily. However, it is annoying when a newb, who obviously hasn't done any reading or research, starts asking "Ho you you grow mushrooms?". Seems like you're on the right track. Keep up the good work and gimme a shout if you need anything. GL
