They say you should wait 5-7 days after they are 100% colonized so make sure that the middle of the cake is colonized too. Then you can expose them to indirect light for a little bit a day to initiate pinning. You can initiate pinning with them in the jars(and then put them in fruiting chamber) or you can put them in fruiting chamber and expose to indirect light. It's up to you...

Theres a few approaches you can take here. First, are you growing with cakes or are you planning on casing?

If your going to go with cakes, to my knowledge you can do either..meaning you can just straight birth them into the fruiting chamber w/o primordia or you can initiate pinning 'invitro' then birth when you see pins. IMO I would birth them straight into the fruiting chamber and you have the option to cold shock before doing this.

Leave them in the incubator for a week after they are 100% colonized...Mine pin almost immediately after I birth them, with no cold shocking (EQ strain)

for those experienced, question: why would someone wait 5-7 days after it is completely colinized on the outside? would it continue to colinize in the inside while you are starting to pin.

No it would start the fruiting stage and leave the inside partly uncolonized allowing contams to set in. However if you inoculate with a hole in the center then it shoudl not be a problem. in fact i often notice the bottom of my jars colonize from the inside out. (i do put a bit more cc's in the center though.
