What are the adverse effects of frequent tripping? frequent being more than once a month. I'm not looking for text book scientific results, more personal experiences or having seen/known other people who have tripped a lot.

I find that when I tripped to much (not these days, but in my late teens), I would feel really spaced out and have a hard time conforming to the roles imposed upon me (school, work, money etc etc...). I could see through the bullshit and it was really hard to motivate myself to go to work/school when I couldn't help but see the utter pointlessness of it all.
Later trips resolved this issue, but it was quite overwhelming at the time.

After a summer long binge so to speak, I started to notice some things concerning my vision. Things such as me being able to see the spots of dust, dirt and hair that are on my contacts. I also notice that most moving objects will have a pretty noticeable tracer to them if it is in my peripheral or I unfocus my eyes. I can also see very very subtle fractal patterns on LCD or plasma screens. Some people call these kinds of occurrences HPPD, but I would call it an effect of perception and the role it plays when consuming psychedelics
I could keep going, but my point is is that after tripping for extended periods of time its almost as though I have actually learned how to use my eyes to their full potential. Your eyes can be equally as powerful as your mind when it comes to playing tricks on you, but after a few trips under your belt you start to notice them more, even though they have always been there. It's all about perception with me. Perception is an important word. Psychedelics can lead to rapid changes in perception and I am convinced that this kind of phenomena is because of it. Some people see this as a bad thing, I think it's a very good thing - It teaches you a little something about the diversity of the world.

Well, in my experience, increased detachment from reality is a big one.
It becomes rather hard to take any part of your life seriously when you're honestly questioning whether or not the girl sleeping in your arms is a separate, breathing, thinking individual who loves you, or just a portion of some mass-delusion you created long before you can remember.
It's a nice philosophy to play around with in your head and discuss with others, but to actually participate in a solipsistic mind-frame is rather isolating and troubling.

Extremely troubling. What have you done to help yourself with this state of mind? I've been "blessed" by the NBOMe's with this mindset and it's really off-putting as well as extremely disturbing.
I also experience very minor "HPPD", I wouldn't say it's HPPD since most people would say that HPPD is only when it's severe and intrusive on your life. I get trails, if I stare at a wall of text it starts to wave a little bit, there was a point where I couldn't stare at a wall of text and read it without having to shake my head or close my eyes to refocus because the text would bend and wave too much... it was difficult to read!! I had about a 2 month break from tripping and it gave me a decent drawback in symptoms. I barely started diving into the world of psychedelics in 2011 and I have taken so many different chems so many different times.... i was literally tripping every weekend for a while...
But, the basic side effects of frequent tripping consist of:
1.HPPD 2.Delusions 3.PTSD (This occurs with really intense or bad trips... this can happen easily your first time) 4.Anxiety Disorders 5.Laziness, not wanting to really do anything because you realize how pointless it really is...
I'm sure there is more but I can't quite remember.
...
You are able to reveal all the bullshit that goes on with everyday life, that it's really quite pointless... but all in all, I do my best to believe that there is a point, and that is to experience life. We have been blessed with a life to live, things to hear, places to be, foods to taste, people to fight, risks to take... whether they are good or bad, it's a feat in itself to be able to live it and we should find appreciation in all things... no matter how difficult.
Trying to disregard the pointlessness in life can sometimes be difficult because you feel as if there is no reason to care... but be grateful, be happy that you can live at all... be happy that you are able to experience life as it is and that all aspects of your life are in your control... it just takes a choice.

This is purely subjective and can't really be answered by anyone. Depending on who you are, your mental stability, and how bad the detachment really is will determine how long detachment sticks around for.

I have auditory hallucinations when sober, like music playing in my head and stuff. And i have this delusional-trippy mindstate ever since i tripped. Also have lots and lots of pictures in my head oh and i read somewhere about 'dual-concioussness' which is like you feel like you are in another place than you really are and i get those all the time too with out of body experiences etc.

for me,no adverse effects. i go on a 2-3.5 gram mushroom trip once a week. the only negative effect is feeling really tired when my trip is wearing off, but that is mainly because i drink alot of coffee during my trip. other than that, its all good.
