    #745643 - 07/14/02 02:29 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

i'm a bit confused... using brf 1/2pint cakes PF says birth when they have pins.... but i've also read when they become 100% colonized....anyway want to share some light on this?

I would birth them after 100% colonized.Expose them to light for a little while every day and keep the humidity high and you will see pins in no time. I believe it is harder to get the pins invitro so like I said you should just birth them after they are fully colonized.

I've usually heard 100% colonization + 5-7 days for the inside to finish, then birth.

Do not birth them once they look fully colonized! Wait at least 5 days after they look 100% colonized. In one of my buddys cakes he birthed it when it looked 100% colonized. It got the green in about 3 days. He chopped out the green part and he saw that there was only about 2 cm of colonized substrate on the cake.

Waiting for pinns in the jar is a waist of time, it takes longer and is not needed.
