After i take the tinfoil of the top of my jars, there are lids underneath them. and then inoculate emm, should i put something on the jars to cover the holes again? or should i leave emm open to aloow some air? what do i do?

if you are doing brf cakes then the dry layer of vermiculite will protect from contams so nothing is needed,if your doing grains you should have a piece of tyvek under the band but over the lid..does that make sense?

after i knock up grain i always put a piece of 3m micropore tape over my needle hole, but im guessing you are doing brf
(pf tek)which would make it not needed

sorry. meant this. i punched holes in my 1/2 pint jar lids and then put tinfoil over the top of the jars so during sterilization water wouldn't enter into the jar. Im just wondering after i onnoculate do i put the tinfoil back on to cover the holes?

no you dont need to ..you should have a layer of dry vermiculite under your lid, that keeps out contams,so no cover is needed

One step I always took when using the PF Tek was rubber banding coffee filters over the top of my jar lids for added measure against contamination, but if you have the dry layer of Vermiculite you should be fine. I just always used both because I'm just a little obsessive compulsive.
