Bastards are back. Bugs on shrooms How do I kill them?
    #7455079 - 09/26/07 09:48 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Has anyone tried the cigarette water to kill bugs on your shrooms? If so does it damage the shrooms?

Read a post saying that could work because nicotine is a pesticide. I fount one bug that ate the cap off one of my babies, and want to kill any that may exist. Or is there a better way to git rid of them?

Doesn't that make your shroomies laced with Nicotine though?

Why would you wanna eat that?

Try looking for organic Insect Repellents, and natural ones...
Be sure its safe to eat too lol.

Quote:

A nontoxic insect repellent that is adapted to be sprayed on fruits, vegetables and plants of all types, wherein the liquid insect repellent consists of two basic ingredients comprising filtered water and garlic juice which is extracted from a given batch of fresh frozen garlic puree. The garlic juice and filtered water are mixed under controlled temperatures during which the mixture is filtered to provide a blended liquid in a colloidal suspension within a refrigerated holding tank wherein the liquid is constantly recirculating through a refrigeration system for a selected time period under an established regulated temperature, thereby preventing settling and disruption of enzyme activity so that a required pH factor is established.

Hmmm... what sort of bugs? Got photos?

Is this an indoor grow? If so, why do you think bugs have invaded?

No. No photos, my cam doesn't take good enough pix, but it was a little bitty brown bug. He's gone now, as far as I can tell. I only saw one but wanted to stop any further infestation. He ate the cap off one of my little ones.

I would not use things off that list blindly. The first result I see is cedar oil; cedar is a natural fungicide. Many of the essential oils and repellants there will do little for your (presumably high) concentration of, I would guess fungal gnats, and potentially make your substrate toxic to mycelium.

You can search my posts for one on predatory nematode species. Worth noting that I haven't had great luck with that; RR recommends slicing a lemon in two and placing it next to your tubs.

Thanks Capt. I think I'll just watch them and kill them one at a time. There's not many of them.
