Takapuna, Auckland Hunting Question

Hi, -edited.. nvm-
Me and a few of my friends have been looking around since winter, we were complete noobs at it back then, but now we have looked into this alot and learned alot of important info. We don't want to go buy some because that just seems wrong and takes the whole fun of finding them ourselves out of it
About a week ago, me and my friends came across a small patch of little mushrooms thats quickly bruised blue in bark under trees next to some random house with old people that got pissed off at us. We were so happy to finaly find something! So we picked them and stored them away, at this time we didn't exactly know how to dry them or anything, so my friend put them under a lamp most the time. (We left quite a few behind just hoping that more would grow) A few days ago they went mouldy and smelt really bad!... oh god, we were so sad. So we went back to the patch we left behind only to see that they had disappeared! It's been raining for the last few days and inbetween the rain I went by myself to check the area again to see that all the mushrooms had gone (even the scary white ones). And now it's come to this...
We are desperate to find some! It's the start of spring now and from what i've read, it seems that not many mushrooms grow during this time of year (strange that we found those nice ones only a week ago) I'm not sure of the differences of why the mushrooms grow only during some times of the year, maybe the rain and temp?
What i've learned so far is that most brown/purple spore prints mean its what you're looking for (you know what i mean). They grow mostly after rain (not sure about all species?) They're easy to find under debry of trees, like rotting bark and leaves. The good stuff bruises blue. Big white ones are damn scary, as in 'I don't wana die' etc...
Anyway, i'm posting here now to ask for some hints on what i should do now, considering the story i said above.

Read the rules, asking for 'good places around Takapuna' is not allowed and will get the thread closed.
Brown/purple spore prints aren't always magic mushrooms, not by a long shot. Hypholomas, Stropharias also print purple for a start, and by brown/purple it seriously means purple, not any shade of obvious brown.
Blue bruising mushrooms aren't always magic mushrooms, the most common are Boletes, some Xerulas.
'White' mushrooms can be poisonous, but in general they're all poisonous unless you know exactly what they are, the most deadly are often brown.
Most importantly know what you're looking for. You're probably looking for Psilocybe subaeruginosa, which only fruits when it is cold (10 degree or lower nights) and wet. Use the search bar at the bottom and the menu bars at the top to continue your research.
Good luck

ok thx, and sorry i didn't have time to read the rules
plus, i think these sub ones are the ones that we found! my friend tried one first and told me it was definitely a magic mushroom because he had already done it before, so i tried one the next day and i definitely did feel it for a couple hours or so too bad he deleted the pics off his phone, but i'm sure it looked like them... Oh well, nvm

Yeah well if they were subs then they will only come in cold and rain, which means winter, although you can get early or late fruiting if the conditions are OK. The season should well and truly be over now.
P.S mushrooms generally last less than a week. They're not plants, they don't 'grow', they pop up during rain, release their spores and then dry out and 'die'.
Post your finds up here next time you find some, following the ID specs in the rules. Until then keep on researching subaeruginosa finds in Auckland
