OrgoneConclusion, sure. Well seriously, I was thinking you could provide a simple explanation like,
Or you could do some research if you TRULY WISH TO GROK THIS. Space and time are inextricably interlinked, hence the term space-time. One cannot travel in time while space stays the same.
Explain to me why, if you are very strong, you cannot sit in a chair, reach under the lip and lift yourself and the chair off the floor. How would things change with new technology and math and brain power and understanding?

Let me understand this if possible:
The spiritual world cannot be detected. Yet you have detected it and know what the landscape looks like.
Um, OK...

Well, but I'm not necessarily talking about somebody being in control of their time travel... the instances I've heard of were completely uncontrolled by the people involved and initiated by a force greater than themselves at random.

There you have it folks. Undeniable evidence of the rewriting of physical laws. My apologies to Newton & Einstein.

How much 'force' does a person contain?
FWIW, all the energy in the galaxy (which is slightly more than an unknown mystic) is insufficient to travel in time.

Okay, show me an honest, unbiased person.
So what is your criteria here? If you say that there are no honest unbiased people here who disagree with you then you need to provide them.

It is directly related to the mass and acceleration of the Taco Bell food that was consumed, multiplied by the cubed toot of the area of the pressure relief orifice....
There have been studies, it is fucking up the ozone....

No, I never said they were undeniable. If I thought they were I wouldn't be asking for your input on why time travel is considered impossible.

lol.
Mystic? I've never heard of any mystics travelling through time - maybe you have?
Anyway, you still haven't addressed the OP. Time travel was merely an example of a paranormal event, and not a very good one at that.
Icelander - of course you can be honest and disagree. But those who write off what are considered strange or abnormal experiences simply because they are not run-of-the-mill I would not consider honest.

Is this based on the time and mass dilation equations, or does it come from the general theory? I took upper level undergrad relativity, but the teaching material used was far too dense to extract much useful information, i.e. given an hour and a half I can calculate all the components of the Riemann Tensor for a given geometry, but I have no idea why that's in any way useful.

I can't grok time travel..
Tell me if i am wrong. Suppose i were to travel back in time to 1945, there would be two earths, the present and the 1945, and if i travel forward from 1945 to 1947, now there would be three worlds, and so on and so forth. So it seems there would be as many earths as there years, or even minutes.
How can so many earths - or for that matter many universes - exist at the same time?

One MT is certainly enough. What would we do with an infinitude of red-headed elves?
