North FL Yard Shrooms ID (Pictures)
    #7453215 - 09/25/07 08:03 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Hello everybody. This is my first post here.

I need a bit of help identifying these mushrooms.

Let me start by saying I picked these in Northeast Florida, in my yard, after a bit of nice rain.
The caps were a kind of pinkish red and the stem was mustard yellow in the ground. There are some blackish bruises on the bottom of the caps, and the caps feel spongy. They have a rainy grass smell to them. Hard to explain, but I have eaten some shrooms from a cow field with the same smell to them.

Thanks for any help.

They will not get you high, but they might be good food.

Like he said, some blue bruising boletes are poisonous, so be sure of your ID if you try it.

I have narrowed down the possible choices to the ones on this page:

Thank you both for the replies.

It does appear to be a bolete, it looks pretty much exactly like the ones in this picture. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/images/kuo2/boletus_campestris_02.jpg

Definitely a disappointment that I won't be tripping off of them, but it was still pretty cool to get the info on them.

Thanks again.
