Spawn Bags
    #7452132 - 09/25/07 02:51 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Hey guys I've got a quick question.
How many 3 pound Rye Spawn Bags from Mushy Mart
do you think it would take to sucessfully
colonize and grow mushrooms covering a 10 ft. x 10 ft.
area outdoors?

*Please don't tell me to read the Outdoor Teks,
I've read everything from Moe to Stoned_Myconaut's,
and none of them cover area calculations.

you'll need about 200lbs of bulk substrate, which means about 400pints of spawn, which is about 220lbs of organic rye grains.

I believe that's about right. That will give about a 3 inch substrate depth, you'll probably want to go with 5-6inch since you're doing outdoor beds, so, about 350lbs of bulk substrate, and 800 to 700 pints of spawn, or, 400ish lbs of organic rye grains.

You're fucking with me right?
This seems like a rediculously high number for
a 10 x 10 area.
