DMT research

Dear Forum Users,
Deakin University in Australia is currently conducting some research into the subjective experience of n,n-DMT in comparison with Marijuana.
Before we begin, I am obliged to attach the following disclaimer:
"Deakin University is currently conducting Research into Phenomenological Analysis of n,n-Dimethyl Tryptamine Vs. Marijuana induced experiences. This link is for the purpose of that research. Deakin University does not endorse this site, nor does the University endorse or condone the recreational use of illegal substances, including marijuana."
If you are interested in taking part in this research, it involves a 100% anonymous online questionnaire. The questionnaire requires that you have taken both n,n-DMT and Marijuana (on separate occasions) and asks you to describe each of these experiences in detail. It can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the depth of your answers.
If you are still interested, please click on the following link, which will take you to a page outlining what is required and then to the questionnaire itself.
www.deakin.edu.au/psychology/research/dmt
I hope you will take some of your time to share your experiences with us.
Sincerely,
Chris Cott Deakin University

if only they were supplying the DMT...
-------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see, and hear. Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one millionth of reality. --------------------------------

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY
This survey is not what I'd say really great, in that it has a weird selectionairre type question for use of DMT and Marijuana, as if all users are very heavy users.
The selectionairre part of the quiz says something like
"WHAT IS YOUR MOOD LIKE WHEN YOU ARE ON DMT AND OFF DMT"
and the same question for pot. I left a statement saying that it was an obsolete question, make sure you do the same. But they give a cool little block for you to post your trip reports

Rick Strassman is the man. I sent him an e-mail one time and he responded within a few hours. Kudos to him and his awesome research

Thank you all for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. In reply to xk3m_indica, this is true and an unfortunate problem with the restrictions of psychological research. The section you are talking about is adapted from a previous questionnaire and is included to allow for comparison with prior research. However, you will be pleased to know that the section we are most interested in is your report of your subjective experiences.
BTW, if you know anyone else who would qualify for the questionnaire and has not yet filled it in, feel free to guide them to the site. Thank-you all again for your participation.

Good for you, Chris Cott.
However, you really can't compare the two, DMT and marijuana, for they are extremely different. I have used DMT many times, as well as marijuana. I would have to say that the only similarity between the two is that they alter one's consciousness. The majority of marijuana users do not find marijuana to be psychedelic, they do not really aquire a psychedelic trip from its use, and therefore, I do not think that marijuana should be classified as being 'hallucinogenic', since the majority of marijuana users do not find marijuana to be 'hallucinogeic'. However, a small percentage of people find marijuana to be psychedelic. Some of this percentage includes those who have classically conditioned marijuana to become psychedelic through the use of powerful psychedelics. These people have awoken the 'psychedelic potential' that marijuana happens to harbor. Personally, I have done this. A single hit of bud will toss me into a psychedelic trip. There are some people who will naturally receive a psychedelic experience from marijuana. The 'psychedelic potential' is already opened for them, and therefore, they don't have to open it through the use of more powerful psychedelics. Also, some strains of marijuana are just psychedelic in and of themselves, and pretty much all users will obtain a trip from these strains. Comparing DMT to marijuana is like comparing aspirin and LSD; truly, you just can't compare the two. For the majority of people, marijuana is not psychedelic. DMT, I believe, takes you beyond the psychedelic, and therefore, should not be classified as 'psychedelic'. Perhaps someone should invent a new word. The DMT experience is the most intense experience a human will ever experience. If you want to compare two mind altering substances, then you should compare psilocybin mushrooms and DMT, for they happen to be particularly similar, not quite similar in experience, but similar in 'feel'. They both have an extraterrestrial aura about them. DMT and mushrooms go hand in hand, and they can be very complimentary.
When I get some more time, I'll fill out the survey. And, once again, good on you for studying these.

Thanks, man!
I'll give it a go. I'm not sure if the survey will allow me to post that much, however! The Chronicles are getting a bit long..

One final call for any who are interested and have not yet participated, your input is greatly appreciated.
Longbottom leaf, thank you for the in-depth reply, your point is duly noted and will be taken into consideration when conducting the research itself. These two (DMT and Marijuana) are often grouped together as 'hallucinogens' and it will be interesting to see if this grouping is merited or whether, as your comments seem to indicate, they deserve separate categorization. Again, thank you for your input.
