I need some good info on p. cyanescens.

I searched the site and really couldn't find anything detailed like the subbs guide. Any help is appreciated as I would like to be able to identify it and know of it's lookalikes before I even attempt to hunt it.

I don't know where to start... I don't know of any guides for this species. If you truly want to know as much as possible before hunting this species, you should use the search and read EVERYTHING. Hehehe, no joke, once you learn a bit, and start asking yourself more specific questions, you'll know how better to search for that info. There is a plethora of info on this mushroom in the database, however, it is not compiled.
Anyway, I'll try and start things off...
This is the most common "look-a-like" I find while hunting Ps. cyanescens. It is Tubaria furfuracea, and it grows most often from wood chips, often growing along side the Wavy Caps.

Some more T. furfuracea.

Okay thanks. From the looks of things it appears that the stipe of the furfuracea, is kind of off whitish while the cyanescens is sort of brownish in color. I really think someone should do a compilation of the info for this mushroom since it's supposably the most potent of them all.
I'll do some digging and maybe when I become an experienced shroomer I'll write one myself.

What I feel generally separates the cyanescens from other look-alikes is definitely the bluing in the "White" stem, I almost guarantee, you will recognize this sexy mushroom when you see it, but as for the habitat and where the mushroom is situated is different story, as I am the same at times still having trouble in locating possible places the mushroom might be, in a sense of what type of wood mulch it fruits from.
Well good luck

You have it reversed. Ps. cyanescens has the white stem in Curecat's comparison pic.

cyans will always have a white stem when fresh. Once you develope an eye for them you will be ablt to tell the difference between them and fakes from a dozen yards away

Sorry my bad, I was kind of tired when I was looking at the topic. So I'm looking for a white stipe and brown stipes are not good...
Okay, and I've heard to look in parks and under bushes where wood chips are used right?

Right! But the adoption of them being the most potent of them all is wrong! They definitely are potent as hell and -in my opinion- cause the nicest trip of all the mushrooms I've tried yet (Cubes, Copes, Semis, Azures). However Copes and especially Azures are way more potent then Cyans!

Yup, Ps. cyanescens are potent, but Ps. azurescens and Panaeolus cyanescens are even more.

I see different types of fungi growing on the same manure all the time. Are any of these Azures? You have to be able to tell the difference. I find plenty of pan. Cyanesens on the same dung as its lookalike alot.

Dude, Azures don't grow on manure. They are wood lovers and need much colder temps, then there are in your tropical, or sub tropical area. You'll never find Azures where you live! Look out for Cubes and Copes though!
