Got some cacti in the mail

2 Lopophora williamsii 5 years old. 1 Lopophora williamsii var. decipiens 2 T. Pachanoi
The decipiens is a bit soft(dehydrated) should I just water it as soon as it is in soil? Should I give them all water as soon as they are in soil?
The whole bunch:
 L decipiens is centered:
 L. williamsiis in center:
 My T. pachanoi

cool your peyote came in :-))
what i do is, plant them in the soil and take a spray bottle and gently spray a little around the button. but you will be surprised how much longer that could go with out water, when i got a few buttons in the beginning of the winter that were super soft and wrinkled pretty good and they came back
good luck and nice plants

Thanks I've already planted the decipiens(I'm fast sometimes) I moistened the soil a bit. The soil is maybe 60/40 cacti soil / cat sand(one of the kinds that can be used as soil improvement). Will post some pics of them when all is in soil too. How close to the light should I put them(600W HPS)?

u can give them some water if they have a good root system (which most seem to have) but dont drown them! let them get settled in their new home before u soak the medium...
my 600w hps is about 3 feet above my lophs... i wouldnt put them directly under the light until they are settled though.

yeah can see that from the root...
still u should be careful not to water them too much until they have made some fresh feeder roots...
remember, u cant kill a cactus fast by underwatering... however u can kill it in a matter of days by overwatering...
and with lophs, by the time rot sets in, its very difficult to save them...

i graft my 5-8 year old seed grow ones all the time , it is not a huge deal, i cut it so the base pups and then i have a sweet graft (which is way easyer to graft imo) , when you start getting a shit load of lophophora then you will see :-))

also watch out with those stones, they hold the water in the soil a bit and it is very easy to over water them because you cant see when the soil is nice and dried out, i use to use stones but now i just throw some perlite on the top :-))
and you are using plastic pots which is not a super big deal but for a noob with lophophora it would have been best to get clay pots because if you over water the clay evap's the moister in to the air through the pot.
just please careful because you will be heartbroken if you loose a lopho to rot, i know i was

i wouldnt do it either... i dont see the point in grafting older own root specimens... for me the whole point of grafting is to get small specimens or seedlings to a reasonable size fast, then degraft and root...
but each to their own (royer)

grafting biggies aint all bad. i just grafted a 5 cm one 2 months ago and the scion today flowered for the first time its a good way to get more seeds. and if by chance it dies (harder to kill such big scions than smaller i think) then you can dry it and keep it for a rainy day

yep you graft smaller ones to get them bigger, i graft bigger ones to make them HUGE!! and the base of the cut peyote sends out pups so i win both ways :-)

hahaha, but grafted specimens just dont look as nice as own root specimens... they dont look natural at all, bloated, overfed, kind of like how fat people dont look so good
