I am not sure what those are, some pictures of some older specimens would help a bit.

You could check what the mycelium is attached to - see if it is eating the leaves and woody debris around there, or if it is more like mycorrhizal and attached to tree roots.

The big cluster does suggest Lyophyllum, but those usually have a mild odor. If you can't find it in that genus, check Clitocybe and Leucopaxillus. Doesn't really look like either to me, but you said it has white spores and gets quite big with a strong smell.

What does the smell remind you of?

Looks like either Clitocybe nebularis or Leucopaxillus albissimus.

At some stages of growth the two look pretty similar and the easiest way to tell them apart is by smell. One smells really bad and the other smells like rodent shit.
