Just some Laccaria (Just 1 pic)
    #7447741 - 09/24/07 01:39 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

I found these the other day at a rest stop in Oregons Willamette Valley. The exact species is something along the lines of Laccaria laccata. They were found growing in a lush grassy area underneath many tall trees. They have white colored spores. And (without any ID field guides handy) i think i remember them being Edible but probably with some degree of caution.. but the caps are so small i wouldn't even bother trying to make a meal of them.

Anyways, they were the only mushrooms i found on yesterdays drive down from Washington.. I liked the picture so i thought i would share..

I recall from a nice young French lady working here in Colorado on her masters degree studying Laccaria that none of the species is known to be poisonous. So there should be very little risk from eating them.

Bridgelisa, no Laccaria species are active. Some of them are used as edibles.

Happy mushrooming!

I have heard that too. They aren't bad tasting either.
