Best way to Dry Salvia Diviniorum?

Ok folks, whatcha got? I don't have a food dehydrator and I'm not gonna get one for the time being. I want to retain maximum potency. I've dried several ways and dunno which is best. Sand beds work, but that must pull out oils. Just laying flat on the table? Oils would still evaporate tho....?

I've always been a fan of pressing them into books with weight on top, it keeps their shape and look very similar to fresh picked. Just remember to move them to different parts of the book every couple of days otherwise they'll get moldy.

I'm not so sure salvinorin is so much of an oil but rather in a solid form when dried. Not sure though. I would think the best way to retain the most of the potency would be to cure/dry slowly like MJ. Although that may not be necessary. You should try using the search function, I'd bet there is a great TEK out there.......

i place mine between sheets of paper and put a weight on them... same type of thing as namaste said. i usually change the paper a couple of times a day as it soaks up moisture... they get all wrinkled up if u just dry them in the open... also, dark is good

there is something to be said for curing also... after a couple of days in a book, or however u are pressing them, u can jar them to even out the moisture content and finish of drying that way... makes for a less crispy leaf thats a bit smoother to smoke IME
speaking of which...

I've just thrown leaves on a table and left them for a couple days. They're thin enough that they dry quite quickly and don't need much special treatment. I don't see the point of using a dehydator. It's only gonna take them a couple days to dry anyways, and I'm just guessing but wouldn't the heat be more damaging than the two days of air?
You could also throw a thin layer in one of those beer flat cardboard boxes, this is a tried and true method for any leafy plant like salvia. (nettles, mint, etc.)

i just leave mine in a cool, dry, dark spot and they are dry within 3 days. though i havent harvested lately, my plant has been going through some rough times(i keep forgetting to water it), plus i havent really wanted to take a salvia journey lately so its no big deal. i mainly just keep the plant to say, one day when it becomes illegal, that i had it before it was and because of all its spiritual background, just like a few other 'divine' plants i have.

hah, wow, i didn't think about desiccant. i have some. all of these methods definantly work. what i am actually trying to find out is whether anyone has experimented by drying leaves of an individual plant in using more than one method in attempt to see which method allowed maximum retention of potency.
