Problem with Peruvian tea?

A few weeks ago I acquired a bit of T. Peruvians cactus (san pedro) and set out to do preparation # 5 on erowid (http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_preparation5.shtml). The process takes quite some time, and that is something I find pretty hard to come by in my life, so I sliced up the cactus one day, then a few days later I got around to simmering it. I think I followed this prep. method well, and followed the flow of a few others I had studied, but when I finished with my prep. My liquid came out like muddy water... All pictures of T. Peruvians tea have been greenish and mine is definitely very very brown, muddy looking. Does anyone know what could have caused this, or if its safe to drink? -thanks

Were you constantly watching it and adjusting the temperature to make sure it didn't burn? I can't say for sure without seeing it but you may have burned some of it.

Muddy Waters kicks ass

but back to your question... if you simmered the cacti in water, I don't see how it could be anything other than what you desire
be warned, it's some VILE tasting shit
the WORST thing i've ever encountered but also the BEST thing i've ever encountered (after you drink it at least.. if you can even get it down )
good luck, my friend

I've tried that method twice. The first time was with dried San Pedro. No effects other than a possibly slight buzz were noticed. Tried again with 19" fresh San Pedro. Same thing as before. Little to no effects. Did an alcohol extraction overnight on the plant matter left over from the second batch and finally experienced mescaline, even if it was a low level trip. My advice would be to use another method, preferably an extraction.
It will taste NASTY also. The first tea I made, was slimy and fucking vile. Worst thing I've ever tasted. The second batch I evaporated all the water and was left with a paste that I rolled into balls and swallowed. Even those are nasty. The taste doesn't like to leave the mouth either. I found myself having to eat a few bits of something to take away from the lasting bitterness with the first tea. Just thinking about that taste makes me nauseous.
